Who here recently spent their hard earned cash on a new computer? Becasue if this april 2004 stuff is true our gear is going to be useless crap again. I'm not happy about this at all and i want the fcking adress of this sourcex guy so i can go round his house and stab him to death cut off his neck and rub it in sh!t. I'm so pissed off.

Lesson: dont buy a new system to find the game you built it for is going to be sh!t upon release since its been delayed for 6 months because of a 15 year old gimp.

:flame: :flame: :flame: :flame: :flame: :flame: :flame: :flame: :flame:

I need this fckers phone number, adress, email anything please.

I waited an boy am I glad...

But all I was in the market for was a 9800 Pro.

My ti4600 handles all the current games.. well besides Halo. Now I can wait till the prices drop for Xmas :)

i don't think they're gonna set the system specs higher just because it's delayed. its not like they're gonna add new features or anything.
afaik they're doing damage control, and optimizing it, so if you bought a brand spanking new radeon 9800 pro, it'll run it smoothly.

I did. I bought a Hercules R9800 and flashed it to a pro : )

No regrets though. And by the way your hardware is still cutting edge, and it will run any games to come with full details, so relax ; )

i have 128mb 9700pro and a 128 ti4400 and they both work great and will own hl2 game i dont know why you would need more power, i have a gig of 400mhz ram and a 2.4ghz p4 with my 9700pro so that system should be fine for a while unless they are releasing in 2005 i think im all set

well i got my dad to buy me one for my birthday...

I did (spent $1,700), but there are other games coming out soon which will take advantage of my new pc's specs, so I'm not too annoyed.
!!! ;)

With any luck, the required specs to run HL2 with all the bells and whistles will remain the same when it ships around April.

I did... I dont like the way its going now but i know the game will run fine here.... I only could get it for a lower price if i waited six months but f*ck it :p

What i meant is theres all these 64bit chips coming out and my system will not be worth a fraction of what it is now then.

The only thing you'll really need to update is the videocard if you have a recent system. And that's only if your current card doesn't run DirectX with all the bells and whistles. I built mine with an eye to the upgrade path if necessary, no funky Dell bios or unique layout for me. Give me a mainboard with a decent FSB, a CPU that will run decent for a couple of years, and I can afford a new video card if need be.

Hmmmm was just looking there at Call of Duty, think i might take a break there for a few months when its out and return here at a later date when its all settled down lol.

i was planning on having a new system by now but when they delayed doom3 month or 2 ago i decided id wait it out awhile since i didnt think it was worth it just for hl2. but now that hl2 could possibly delayed till april of 2004 i think ill wait till around xmas for my new system since ill have a bunch of new games then.

Wish i was as wise as yourself.

Nobody got any contact details of sourcex?

Uhhh... Those 64bits architecture systems are worthless don't you know? Windows is 32bits right now.

Didn't people learn not to buy computers based on release dates back with Halo PC before it got switched to XBox?

Dont u think u could use that hardware for something else than play HL2. I mean there are lots of good games thats coming out this fall that is worth the new hardware.
And if the valve guys are mostly working on rewriting parts of source than ure computer will still be able to handle it cause its not getting more advanced.
And if u only made the upgrade for HL2. Not a smart moove
