Most people think he is some sort of representation of fate, but seriously does that sound very Valve like. The most Valve official sounding conclusion "in my opinion" would probably be, G-man being some kind of time agent from another planet in the future which eventually gets taken over by the combine. G-man was sent back in time to find a worthy warrior (Gordon Freeman) to stop the combine from their source and prevent them from taking over any more planets in the future including the G-man's home planet. My personal own thought up opinion, i took no ideas from any other videos or fan fictions.

This Thead again? Ok here we go:
I dont think Gman is like from one of many alien races because that would be a very op race.
My personal favorite is that Gman isnt really a thing, maybe they wont even explain him in the third game, but probably they will because most people would be dissapointed otherwise. For me the Gman is like the developer of the game. He chose you, he talks directly to you, he determines who lives and who dies, he tells you where to go, teleports you around. He just does what he wants, but he lets you do what you want under certain restrictions, so there is a story which can be told. Its like putting the role of the developer into the story of the game itself. Its a little bit like that "would you kindly" thing from Bioshock.
If they will explain him, I hope its not just that he is from a different planet and has some motivations to do all this like protecting his race or boring stuff like that. I hope its more something were they reveal you something and you kinda get a look behind the scenes, I dont know how to explain it. Remember the ending of Metal Gear Solid 2 (no spoilers here), something like that I want.

Since Half-Life has alot of inspiration from HP Lovecraft's work, I wouldn't be surprised if G-man is some kind of fish monster disguising himself as a "human"

I don't necessarily think there's any proof for what I believe, But I like to think he is greater than Human or Alien. He's almost like a God in his power, but yet somehow still human. He's interdimensional and immortal. Some good examples that come to my mind are "starchild" from Space Odyssey or Elizabeth from Bioshock -but even more transcended and powered. And I also get the feeling that even know he's this higher being, Theres more higher being and possibly even higher than him.

He's an intergalactic investor, who conveniently seems to also be controlling the laws of quantam relativity.

The G-Man is literally this thread.

gordon got sent into a coma after the resonance cascade and is being put through rigorous VR simulations of alien invasions and takeovers. the g-man is just a character in a video game

It's a funny and clever idea but No. I dont think Valve would reveal in HL3 that G-man was a developer OF HL 1/2/3, that would sound boring to me. Obviously G-man speaks in riddles but that might be just be the standard way how his people speak. plus his voice may tremble but thats probably because he is disguised as a human. If thats revealed we may realise he has a different personality leading me to believe he might be trying to be the savior of his people.

of course they wont reveal he is a developer. Its just a metaphor or something. But if they would simply say in the game that he is a developer that would be hilarious xD
