Oh right, a church.

A great investment of money!

haha they wont stop at anything will they. But the idea really doesnt bother me really

It's french, knock it the f*** down.

Just kidding.

I thought the statue was misinterpreted to begin with?

I am beginning to understand why people wanted "under God" to be removed from the pledge of allegiance...

It's supposed to represent freedom. Throwing a cross on there does not constitute freedom.

And "under God" wasn't apart of the pledge in the beginning anyway.

"I like the idea of the Statue of Liberty holding a cross representing freedom through Jesus Christ."

Oxymoronic.

"Church members said the mixture of the statue and Christian symbols represent 'America belonging to God through Jesus Christ.'"

Moronic.

The truth behind [scratchout]French[/scratchout] Christian statue design.

The french one doesn't have the butt at the top.

The sodomy plaque here is purely a christian invention. :p

There is only freedom through Jesus Christ

Jigga whut!

There is only freedom through pulling your head from your ass.

Religious fanatics ruin everything, Jesus is prolly all like "lol calm down" and they are like "THE ******S NEED TO DIE FOR ASS SLAMMING EACHOTHER!" I mean cmon, wtf is wrong with them

Majestic 12. But they pin it on the French Revolutionary group Silhouette in order to have them legitimatise both the classification of Silhouette as a Terrorist organisation, and to establish a secret underground lab, fronted by a squeaky-clean anti-terrorist organisation called UNATCO.

This is going to turn into a religious debate ................. I just know it.

LOL.

Church members said the mixture of the statue and Christian symbols represent "America belonging to God through Jesus Christ."
So... Jesus is... french?

Don't forget the NSF.

well, we can't really complain......

thats free speech at its finest...

Ok this is outrageous!! I'm sorry but this is what makes me glad that I am not a christian. Are they insane? America is not a Christian nation or else we wouldn't have a president or congress. We would have the pope. But guess what we don't! The Statue does not represent religion in any way. It is a gift from the french and it shows respect from them. It shows that they thought our mix of ideas, mix of culture, and our democracy system is something that is a Wonder.

Now throw in a cross and do you have a mix of ideas? Nope you got "OMG this is what god wants". Culture? "God created everything. You don't have sex until your married. If you **** anything up and don't confess you go to hell." Hows that for culture? And democracy? "Me, the pope, has spoken with God and God says YOU DID IT BITCH! DIE!".

Wow they really ****ed things up.

And hungry your right it is free speech. Although if I had the money. I would buy some land across the road, make a replica statue with a gun pointed at theres and a book with big letters on the front that says "America was not founded on a god"

And people ask why the rest of the world dislikes America. Anywhere else this would have been a fierce political issue, but in America it's "Whoops! The Church is at it again!"

So people hate us because we let rabid Christians run amock?

Damn freedom and liberty, damn it to hell!

Who did that? I know someone has but they are very much a minority.

I meant that anyone who does that gets his a*s whipped. I'm saying free speech has to have boundaries, and declaring that a secular country is united under Christianity crosses that line.

Free speech doesn't mean you're free from legal criticism, and you CAN say anything you want under the Bill of Rights that doesn't violate another citizen's rights.

The problem with that is a great majority of our citizens are Christian or Catholic, and they will cause more trouble for the rest of us if they aren't able to express their religion freely. These people are highly devout, borderline fanatic and weild a lot of political power.

Anyways, denying them this denies the very foundation of our country, even if it is laughable. The only thing we can do is remind them our forefathers were atheists.

Yeah, too bad they seem to confuse the puritans with the forefathers :/

So we actaully have to drill a hole through the poor guy and go through in order to be free? count me in for bloody freedom ;D

Meh, Christ himself was a pretty freaking cool guy. Everybody since then has been hurting, though :|

No. The boundaries are PUBLIC SAFETY. EG: Don't yell fire in crowded theatre, don't phone bomb threats, and STRICTLY those kind of things.

You'd restrict someone's rights and although I may disagree with what they say, I'd fight you to the death to prevent you from stifling their right to say it.

Criticism is one thing (and part of your right to free speech.) Preventing them from expressing or saying things of their own is unconstitutional.

lol said it b4

The green thing conveys a clear message - America belongs to Christians.
Is this not offensive to other communitites? Therefore, shouldn't your citizens and government disallow this?

Uhh, a lot of things are offensive to different people. Doesn't mean we should banzor everything that gets someone's panties in a knot.

AND THIS ****ING MOSQUITO KEEPS FLYING AROUND ME
