Vivendi Games is pacting with Sony Pictures to turn "Ghostbusters" into a videogame franchise.
First title in what the publisher hopes will be a series of "Ghostbusters" games is set for release in fall '08 from Vivendi's Sierra label.

All four members of the movie team -- Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Bill Murray and Harold Ramis -- will be giving voice and likeness rights for the game. Some supporting castmembers have signed up as well, including William Atherton, Brian Doyle Murray and Annie Potts.

In addition, film scribes Aykroyd and Ramis will pen a story for the vidgame that takes place in the early '90s, after "Ghostbusters II," during a new ghoul invasion of New York City.

Weird, just the other day I mentioned how i'd like another Ghostbusters game. And now this :D
 
I remember seeing the leaked video of this in action a while back and getting pretty excited. Then is was squashed and we didn't hear much at all. Now this?? Awesome. The fact that the originals are coming back to add voice/likenesses is purely kick-ass. I am extremely hopeful for this one.

I can't get my hopes up. When it comes to turning movies into games very rarely have the 'Big Wigs' seem to have come to the conclusion what makes a great movie is not the same as what makes a great game. It seems to me as long as the game isn't 'buggy' that is the criteria for a movie to game to go gold.

One positive hope I see for this game is that there doesn't appear to be a non-flexible release date (ie- no simlutaneous release of the game with a movie)
 
I don't understand that screenshot. More precisely, I don't know how the ghostbuster is standing perpendicular to the side of a building. Am I looking at it wrong?
 
He's absailing - I didn't get it at first but theres a wire/rope coming from his belt towards the screen.
 
that ghost buster is one bad ass mofo if he can scale down a building backwards while destroying the Stay Puff marshmallow man.
 
If I can play co-op with my friends and cross the streams, than I'm sold.

Too bad it's not set in the latter 90s, so we could get Eduardo, Kylie, the cripple and the other token black guy. Ah well. Still awesome.

Extreme Ghostbusters would so fit into the game better.

This does look great. Two questions: when will this be released and will it be for PC?
