What's the most random, stupidly innapropriate music you've listened to while playing a game? Me, I'm a stickler for clasical music and david bowie while bombing people into dust on Desert Combat...and seventies rock music for Halo. :D

Listening to idiots "singing" on American Idol while playing HL2.

I personally blast Metallica most of the time, although other music, nomatter the genre that I consider "pump up" gets played too. :bounce:

Hmmm...I was playing the Jedi Knight demo...and for some reason I had the Bureau 13 CD in, so it started playing the soundtrack for that. Kinda silly. Crappy rock does not belong in the Star Wars universe.

like clockwork orange? the guy who's obsessed with beethoven, and kills people?

i quite often hum some classical piece while shooting people on css...

I blast Sugar-Pop techno while beaning people with toilet seats via HLDM. :D Soon, it will be a Panzershreck rocket ... ala DoD Source.

Starried Eyed Suprise by Paul Oakenfold while playing UT2k4 deathmatch. Something felt off when I was singing the words "Oh my starried eyed suprise, we're gonna dance all night to this DJ" while jumping around like a madman.

I think the best example of wholely inappropriate music in an actual game has to be the Lift Muzak in System Shock 1. It's marvelously cheesy and a hilarious mood breaker. especially the first time you use the elevator to go to the research deck: Something like 20 mutant zombie thingies are lunging towards you whilst the midi-rific noises of the elevator blast the speakers

^^

"Oops I did it again!" whilst playing CS Source ... Yeah, that's pretty inappropriate, but it was net radio... honest!

Off the top of my head? Dream Theater over GTAIII.

I once played 2 hours of BF1942 with The Trashmen - Surfin' Bird on repeat :stare:

Liar....I usually listen to some punk rock stuff, IE. AFI, MxPx, etc.

The Trashmen - Surfin' Bird

So that's who it's by...

BF:V Soundtrack + Desert Combat = Teh win!

Another good one was PJ Harvey doing the soundtrack to a particularly frenetic game of The Specialists...and Bob Marley while storming cs_office.

That brings to mind a certain WOW session where i was questing in the Night Elf lands while the "officially" worst singer ever was moaning in the background on some crappy X-factor programe... hehe :)

lol Neutral Milk Hotel while playing The Specialists. Totally inappropiate for the game, but hey favorite band. Listening to "Three Peaches" while blasting a guy off a building in mid flip? Very hypnotic.

I win:

Donna Summer - Hot Stuff while playing Opposing Force

and

Scnappi - Das Kliene Krocodil while playing GTA:VC

I've been known to cycle through my whole playlist while playing games, which ranges from j-pop to Nightwish. I used to play Team Fortress Classic to Sting's "Desert Rose" so much that I reminisce about TFC whenever I hear it. I once looped "Sonic Boom," the US intro to Sonic CD, while playing an online FPS game.

The one that takes the cake, though (that I can remember anyway), is playing Powerful T's "Over the Rainbow," from Initial D 4th Stage, when piloting a banshee in Halo. I swear it made me a better pilot; all the other banshees on Death Island vs. me, in a CTF game, couldn't even touch me while this song was going. I must've looped it for at least an hour and a half. I'm listening to it right now, actually. :)

Listening to some Yann Tiersen while playing Half-Life 2 Deathmatch.

The Chicken Dance during Doom3!

For some reason it seemed a lot less scary. :P

Listening to The Rain Song - Led Zeppelin while playing Serious Sam, or listening to the mario theme song while playing Doom 3, kinda takes away from the shock.

Thought of another one: The five-minute long Power Rangers theme tune. Works for anything, especially Sven Co-Op.

haha, you're two steps away from killing someone with a giant penis statue.
That movie is great. I love the synth-beethoven music as well. And I only found out recently that the music dude Robert Carlos is now a dudETTE! :rolling:

Was just playing Beethoven on CS:S :E

I love it when a random song comes on that really suits the gameplay. I was just playing de_dust and Rammstein - Alter Mann came on at the beginning of the round. The soft part was on all through when we were buying, then the guitars came in as we were rolling in to the battlefield, then right around when the shit hit the fan, in comes the chorus. Great way to get the adrenaline pumping. Also, Godsmack - I Stand Alone during a massive rush on dust2 :)

My sister once left her Simon and Garfunkel CD in the computer and because Half-Life streams from the CD I ended up listening to "Mrs. Robinson" through like 2 hours of playing Counterstrike.

I listen to "How am I Supposed to Live Without You?" By Michael Bolton during CS, along with Con Te Partiro by Andrea Bocelli. Then some Bob Dylan, Juvenile, 3EB, and lots of techno and trance (the good stuff, not shit-tastic stuff.)

BTW, one GREAT song for counter strike is the remix of Ready Steady Go by Paul Oakenfold that was on the Collateral soundtrack. Trust me, this song is unbelievably badass.

playing doom2 once i decided to mix together a collection of random mp3's - meant to pick mostly "doom metal" 'cause it seemed apt.

accidently added in some classical tunes which just happened to feature the theramin. (wavey synth sounding instument used alot in old si-fi films, and clockwork orange, i think)

after gunning thru several levels listening to a set by sentanced, i was in the level with that little shed where you can't get inside 'cause there are piles of skulls blocking the doorways (you know the one). and all of a sudden the song "somewhere over the rainbow" from wizard of ozz, played on tharamin, came on.

probably the most surreal and disturbing gaming moment i've had...
