Who's hosted a LAN party?

Hmm... what can I say? Exploit, you've spewed more useless shit over the past few days on this thread than my ass does in a year. Honestly, with all the pointlessly offensive and immature things you've said, I'm amazed you're not banned by now. So, I beg of you: take your insecure middle-school baggage and get the f*ck out. The internet is bad enough without pricks like you on it.

Are you going to end life now?

Well I'm tired of arguing with some fag who thinks he's e-cool (lol) Good night.

For participating in thread derailment, and constant trolling, have a small amount of ban.

Biggest one I hosted was 14 people in teh garage. Other than that, there's one every single weekend.

My one friend got kicked out of his house for smoking and moved into my other friend's house. Last week i spent like three days over there with my comp. It was kind of like a really long lan party...

I had my first lan in my garage around -96. ~7 people playing Quake 1 for a couple of days. We were making q1 maps during the lan so we always had new fun maps to play. Good times :)

I havent hosted anything since then, but my friends do. We usually have 13-17 people lans over the holidays for about 5 days.

I've also worked as crew on Dreamhack, but I can hardly call it my own :)

I've been on plenty of LANs lately. My favorite game on LANs is Sacred. I love defeating dragons and earn a sh*t-load of moneys and treasures. :farmer:

Yeh :D
I've been to a few lans with about 40-60 people, and to a few smaller ones (20~ people). I've only hosted two lans, Jellbeer 1.0 and 2.0 (Jelle is one of my friends, and me and him are the "crew" :p)
Here's the site (Dutch): http://www.freewebs.com/jellbeer/ (The site sometimes borks up in Firefox though :|)

First one was with 5 people, second one was with 18.

I wonder what |Exploit would say if he knew he was banned by a hawt girl :p

LAN parties are great, but I always find that they're less fun if you organise too much because nothing actually goes to plan. Ever.

lol qft

Yeah, I went to a few LAN parties over the summer. Very laidback, generally just games of CS:S and whatever else. Lots of fun.

Anyone going to demoparties anymore? Latest demoparty I attended was dreamhack. Our demogroup placed 5th in both the wild- and surprise/lame-compos :)

What's a demo party?

Oh, great game to play at a LAN: Swat 4.

Teamwork in that game is essential, and what better place than when you are sitting next to eachother.

Oh, and try playing with the lights off on a scary level :D

Hah, funny story. We were creeping through this hospital, very tense. A guy could pop out any second... When suddenly... BOOM!!! Everyone jumps in their chairs.

One of my mates threw a flashbang in the game to scare us
Quite good.

There are real no organized LAN parties around here. Redneck f*cks too busy porking their cousins.

The politically correct term is "genetically challenged individuals". Word choice, OvA, word choice.

You can read some about it here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demoscene

Its basically a group of boys and girls locking them selves in for a number of days just to code, draw, model, animate and make music and compete against each other. You have different compos with different rules, like tracked music were you use a tracker to make the music. This basically means chip music made in a tracker (eventhough you can make "real" music with a tracker too) like .mod, .sid or .xm. You can also have hi-res and low-res graphic compos, raytraced compos aswell as more "party" compos like wild and surprise (which can be everything. At one lan, we played ice climbers in a escalator (****ing bear), it can also include dragqueen contests and stuff like that :)

You do this together with some pumping music in the background, can be everything to chip music, to live chip music (using gameboys and commodores to play and mix the music... really impressive to see it live), live preformence with "real" bands to DJs spinning some LPs.

The last lan i attended, Dreamhack Winter 2005 was a ~6000 people lan. Me and my friends made it to 5:th place in 2 compos... but since it was in the wild and surprice compos, i really dont want to show it to you :p (it was crappy and didnt really run all that great on windows compys). My friend classmate however took the 3:rd or 2:nd place in the tracked music compo.

I dont really play that much games on lans, i played about 3-4 hours all together at Dreamhack (4 days/nights). Serious Sam 2 while listening to a live DJ pumping out GOA/psytrance at 110db (says the phone) is a wonderful combo, i can tell you that.

So in short, demolans are more like a crazy party/contest than just to sit around playing games and scream at each other... and alot more fun!

that sounds really interesting, god I grew up a decade or two too early

You live in Peutie IIRC that's not far from here so you can come if your mum will let you :p

I'll post a poll later tomorrow on the site

Well, you obviously haven't played a game of CoD 2 yet on a maxxed out server on a LAN :D

You have to turn your headphones to maximum or you're deafened by the yelling at each other :p

Good you can email this lad here :
jellebraum AT hotmail DOT com

He's the other crew member (and a friend of mine), just tell him you're a friend of mine and you'd like to go to the LAN in the easter vacation (Make sure you can go during that time, we'll specify later on the site)
