Whose playin HL1 before Half Life 2?

Do you think it would be better to play Half Life right before you play Half Life 2 so you can get the full effect of Half Life 2 or am i just sounding wierd?

Yeah playing hl 1 would be a great idea! It would catch you up on all the characters and plots again.

I am playing it now between reading the forums... all the way up to Xen , but the game froze on me so I took a break for a bit.. playing the free version from STEAM and it seems very choppy in some spots, and I found a few bugs in it since the first time I played it back in '99.

Actually, there are 4 parts to half life. Half life:decay is one that is often overlooked. You play as Gina Cross and Coletta Green (the 2 female workers). Also, you play as the alien slave in decay as a bonus.

Umm, yes. It is part of Half life for the PS2

Decay > blue shift. How does it not count? It's another angle of the black mesa research incident, and it connects with the original half life. Just because it's not playable on the PC doesn't make it any less a part of the HL series. It "counts" for sure. If you didn't play decay, then you are missing out on a chunk of the HL story.

Yeah, I gave it a shot about a month or two ago, but then I gave up also...

Now I'm playing some Alice and Jedi Knight 2. Gotta do something to tide me over until Sept 30!

If you're a true fan of HL the graphics should mean shit. It's the story, the gameplay and the overall feel that make the game. Get the High Definition pack if you want to spruce up the look of it a little. Has anyone got the High Definition pack at all or know where I get it? I had the Blue Shift CD which of course had the HD pack on it, then the CD got lost then I got the new computer and forgot to back up the game files.
I've downloaded Blue Shift since off Kazaa (which is legal since I own and bought an original copy of the game) but it doesn't contain the model pack.

Anyone got links to the model pack?

I think you must play HL first to know how this game rules.
I have HL since it s first day in the store, i ve played HL more than 20 times and now for the moment i m playing it again for the fun.
Seriousely play it.

Im gonna start playing HL1 from the beggining again on Sept 1rst and then try my best to time it properly so that I beat the game on Sept 29.

Whereas I'm gonna start playing it again on the 29th. Probably in the late evening at some point, and then aim to finish it at 8am on the 30th, get the bus into town for 9am, buy the game and have it installed on my system and ready to go by 10am.
