20+ frames a secound.... gained by turning this off....

How is that a cheat?

To be honest, they do have a way of disableing the 3dsky... Evidently valve didnt code something correctly. Seems the client can do something "I know what it is" that allows it to change the variables that arent suppose to be changed.

Am I doing this now? or ever? NO!! why? VAC2.

3dsky isnt a cheat. Its performance plane and simple. They havent given one good reason why it is a cheat.

Create yourself a local server with sv_cheats 1, and then type r_3dsky 0 and then disconnect and join a real server. I think it'll stay off then. BUt don't quote me on this, because I'm not sure.

maybe if you put it in your autoexec ?

the only reason I can think, is that the look of the sky might determine how much contrast their is between an enemy (standing on a roof or such) and the skybox background.

Contrast is good, but then I can't see my crosshair. :\
