Why Do You Think Team Fortress 2 is so Good?

Its only fun when new stuff is released , after that i just get bored of it very quickly. I think it lost the pizaz TFC had.

Because everything about it is finely-tuned almost to the point of perfection.

Above two answers.

More specifically, the feel of the game, the community (definitely the community, so many less 'tards...), the sheer amount of fun it is.

Because it's a flawless game, flexible engine with excellent and dynamic support for any hardware resulting in excellent gaming performance.

Oh wait, No. :|

Looks like someone's bitter about conc grenades.

Cause its fun to play and humerous :D

Because i get disconnected every 5min.
Dont know why ):

TF2 is a worthy game to play. It's not the best game ever, because it's incredibly hard to compare games like Monkey Island 2, Team Fortress 2 and Uno and as such can't be called the best game ever.

I disagree. I still play the game quite frequently each day for a few hours and haven't grown tired of it yet.

Only thing I'd like them to do more often is to release new maps. I'm so friggin' sick of Goldrush at the moment.

You should try playing some custom maps. I swore off them after playing a couple horrible ones in late October, but apparently there are some really great ones out these days.

Yeah, I've been thinking about that - I'm mostly playing on the SpecialAttack servers but they only cycle the original maps. Any good custom maps server you'd recommend?

In other words, no :p

Perhaps I'm very well suited to TF2, but I play Dustbowl all the time. Maybe a bit of goldrush now and again, but I play Dustbowl for pretty much 90% of my ridiculous hours on TF2. I hardly play any of the other maps...and I'm not bored of DB one bit or any aspect of TF2.

I love it, I love the tactics of trying to take a very difficult point. I love the team organisation (I play on wireplay server where I also work) so play with a close knit community who all communicate. I love the class distribution, everyone has a job to be done, I love the fact you need to think so intelligently to achieve and overcome problems with every class contributing.

The art design is lovable and simplistic where you don't take things too seriously and get all angry like when I accidently get drunk and play CSS or CS 1.6. TF2 is consistently enjoyable for me, I don't understand how people can get bored with it. I don't feel the need to play any custom maps (except ctf_omega_redux of course ;)).

So why is TF2, so good? It's the game I've been looking for, I guess.

Meh, I guess I'm one of the few that was hoping they'd keep to the gritty futuristic look they were originally going to go for.
The look they have now is original and a treat for the eyes but, I really can't get myself to enjoy playing the game.

It's all been said. The game is just fantastic.

Conc nades?

I never played TFC and couldn't care less about that boring hl1 game.

It is only the frustrating fact that TF2 ran pretty good during the beta and now the performance is pure shit today, even though I didn't touch my hardware in any way.

Because Valve cares enough to keep adding to it even though they already have my money!

Thats dedication!

I don't like TF2 too much, as I don't like shooters and multiplayer games as a genre, but I have to admit that Valve did really put *love* in this thing. The concept and the balance are outstanding!

Because of it's style, both graphical and gameplay. Because it has 9 classes, each of which plays completely differently but are all still balanced. Because it is simple but can be played with complex thought. Because it's easy to understand and you can take in almost any situation at a glance. Because of how perfect the maps are.

I don't see how people can just play all of Valve's maps. My clans custom map server has amazing custom maps, sure there are a few bad ones but we remove them as soon as possible.

usually, i get pissed when i get killed or a kill has been stolen from me... but not really in tf2. it maybe just the fact that its so cartoony that as fast as i become enraged, the thought of the demoman's gl taunt puts a smile on my face.

also
the big thing that i like about tf2 is how people actually work as a team and use the chat feature they way its suppose to be used and people are much nicer

This, oh this so very much.

Cubey's just bitter his hardware doesn't work so well with it.

i do miss tfc's conc grenades but playing TF2 on Xbox Live is the experience that I come to know and love

While there are a few custom maps I enjoy my problem is that there just aren't any low ping custom map servers with players in them.

I think there are a few reasons why custom maps didn't take off
- long download from server making it harder to include custom maps in server rotations
- popularity of Valve maps
- bad reputation due to the poor quality of early custom maps (pre-sdk release).

Thankfully Valve are starting to include good custom maps in updates, here is hoping for cp_steel in the next release!

So, your saying that you beg to differ about what pings HE gets on custom servers...?

Holy shit, it's the Bandwidth Jesus!

Because I don't think I will ever get tired of playing 2fort.

But I seriously need instant or reduced spawn times to fully enjoy the game, otherwise I get antsy.

it's the best class-based multiplayer game ever made in my opinion; very well balanced and there's something for everyone
plus there's always new content being released!

I hate instant respawn. Makes control point and payload maps too hard.

It can be done.

Honestly, the biggest problem with a lot of instant respawn servers isn't that that they make the game fundamentally more difficult. It's just that people start tossing themselves into big meatgrinder fights without a second thought while ignoring tactical alternatives.

After badgering my team endlessly to get a party to take another route, I surprisingly often find myself able to singlehandedly bypass enemy defenses and cap the point/intel by myself. This is because everybody else is apparently retarded.

I played it today because of the free weekend thing and I really don't care for it. I don't know if it's because I played a bad map or what, but it was seriously not fun at all. I was at some map where the blue team spawned and waited behind a gate for 60 seconds before the round started while the red team set up outside. The gates opened and the red team owned us thoroughly. Couldn't even get out of the building. I'll give it another shot, but I don't see what all the hype is about. Seems like a pretty meh game to me.

Because it is more easy going and not serious, and is loads of fun to play even if your team is losing. But that only goes to a certain extent.
