some of the maps look a bit shit. Namely, piranesi, havana, cbble, italy.

If there wasnt a title above those screenshots saying CS:S, I would have assumed they were in the HL1 engine, shouldnt there be a HUGE difference in graphics since its been 6 years since?

Yep. But all those CS PHSYCHOS!!!; would flip out if they drasticly changed the map layout. Let alone made new maps that they don't know all the exploits to.

UH O...I smell sweaty teens with twitch skill running straight for this thread. LOOK OUT!

1) they probably using the same textures on some parts of the maps like in cs 1.6.
2) Maps like cbble, piranese don't look ugly. Only some parts of it is a bit shitty or '1999 looking'. They can easily improve that and afteral piranesi wasn't the best looking map. Alot of parts of Italy for example is a bit empty and they made the textures darker. But don't forget CS is all about online gameplay.

They changed maps like italy in a more CZ way.

...Why didn't they overhaul CS. It's within their grasp. They could have but didn't. Problably because they know this is all they have to put out to make CS fans buy it. While they sit back take forever to make a CS 2. whoopy !

i do not doubt the source engines capabilitys, i have played the beta on dust aswell and i can say it was pretty good. however the mappers of those particular maps just seem to have slacked on the creation of them, they just look blocky and boring.
