Compass said:Or any other FPS made in the last five years?
Indeed.

Compass said:Um, not really. He's just plain wrong about Call of Duty and Doom 3. I haven't played the Unreal or Medal of Honor games so I don't know about those. And big deal anyway if somebody manages to find a scant handful of games with non-scrolling skies. My guess is they'll still look better than the pixellated mess/borderline joke sky of Half-Life 2.
Pretty bizarre how some of you just can't accept this. I guess it can only be attributed to fanboyism. ::shrugs::
I hadn't really noticed that earlier, so I decided to take him up on it.Compass said:By the way, if you want to see an example of great skies in an FPS, look to Shogo: Mobile Armor Division (circa 1998).
lmao, nicely done :EMechagodzilla said:Munro didn't exactly need to own him because I think he did it to himself.

Here is the game that has more realistic sky than HL2:
As a comparison, here is HL2:
Obviously we are all fanboys, as this is in no way retarded.
Compass said:How 'bout you get your own screenshot from Shogo instead of stealing it from another site? That looks like an unfinished version of the game and in one of the least impressive levels no less. Try the opening city level in the actual retail-released game and clarity will be yours.
And it's pretty sad that you're all excited that HL2 appears to have a better sky than a seven year-old game.

Compass said:Any news on a sky-fixing patch? Or are we really expected to deal with the overhead monstrosity Valve calls a sky texture?
I owned him first! I just err pressed enter a split second slower than you.. and the site time is wrong so err i posted first damnit!!Llama said:TDE, dont worry. Ive owned him already
yay deal!Llama said:aww, okay, that point goes to you.
I want the next round of smackdown
giant384 said:gah i hate it when ppl bring back dead threads
fanboy at the top of the page said:"the hl2 skies are gorgeous"
Compass said:This thread will *never* be dead until Valve does the conscionable thing and releases a sky-fixing patch.
LAWWWWWWL!!!

Pi Mu Rho said:Yes, we're all collectively squirming here. Notice how you're the only person to have ever negatively posted here about the skies? Even some of our more well-known anti-HL2 trolls didn't see anything wrong with it.
I name thee troll. Begone.
I think that few people would notice as they're busy ramming grenades into combine asses.Phyltre said:Personally, I dislike the static skies as well. I mean, Goldeneye had moving skies. On the N64. So add me to your one-person list of people who have ever negatively posted here about the skies. To those of us who look to the skies often in real life, a static sky in a digital world is just another stage of removal. And the point, as I see it, is immersion.
Compass said:lol! Look at the fanboys squirm. I love it. "The sky is fine", or the like, has been uttered so many times in this thread... hard proof that fanboyism is alive and well. The sky is so hilariously bad, only a true, dedicated fanboy could say otherwise with a straight face.
So let me ask you, legion of fanboys, how's the AI? "Just fine" as well? Does Half-Life 2 do anything wrong whatsoever? lol. Yeah, I'm the one getting owned. (no, not really. see, that was sarcasm there at the end.)
The dudes a little prick. ****ing hell its not like anyone actually goes through the entire game looking at the ****ing sky. Geez I hardly looked at it unless i looked at the citadel but then my attention was on a giant Iron stick soaring into the air. My god this little butt-humper took the time to bug the hell out of us with some gay complain about some miniscule enviromental effect. Your gun is harly pointed up unless attacking a hunter chopper or shooting something off a bridge. Raise your hand if you played then entire game staring at the sky and ****ing complaining about it.
Compass said:So... any news yet? If VALVe has time for this HDR nonsense surely they can take a day or two, fix the skies, and release a patch for us?
