Why does Valve insults our intelligence?

They realize that the game is not going to be ready this year, make up the greatest joke in the gaming history about their source code being stolen and then act as if everything is OK. It if was not for the support of the community they wouldn't be where they are today...A typical id style "When it's Done" would be much better that all these controversial advertising...
 
True, but isn't it more fun wondering what's going to happen next and yelling random insults at eachother rather than being bored out of our minds wondering "Is it done yet?" "Is it done yet?" Instead it's like a game of clue where we have to figure out who killed Gabe with the Crowbar in the Vent.
 
I didnt feel as though my intelligence was insulted.

I simply feel that they arent good with release dates (as is proven with hl1's release fiasco), I dont believe they would hurt their fans on purpous.

remember guys, They are people just like you and me (with uber skills but still), they want to release the game MORE than you want to play it.. however they arent going to ship a shoddy product after working on it for so long.

kick back and relax, the less you worry about it, the sooner it will be here ;)

I recommend (re)trying:

1. Max Payne 2 (a very short, but very sweet game.. extreme polish was used on this one)

3. Call Of Duty (dont let yourself be fooled into thinking its just the next Mohaa, as I did.. instead give the demo a download and see for yourself, I can guarantee you will enjoy it... well everyone I know, did :D )

4. The newly Patched BF1942 with Desert Combat. (wow, big changes... I used to hate bf1942, but they have fixed all those irritating bugs that made the game feel simmish, no lagging around on boats now, or indoors etc, mouse smoothing is fixed etc) this is the game IM spending most of my time on. The Demo doesnt do the game justice, as it isnt patched like the full game.

5. Half-Life TS (I dont play it as much as I mod for it, but its an awesome mod, especially if you ever wanted to use bullet time in multiplayer)

EDIT: oooh and although its kinda an old game, its still one of the best (imo) single player games EVER (top 3)

Clive Barker's Undying.
its a horror game, and Im currently playing it through again (just for old times sake), if you havent played it, I HIGHLY recommend it, even if you have played it.. give it another chance with your high end hardware (1280x1024 6xAA 16xAF full gfx) its great (well I had a shitty rig when I played it through so its a whole new game to me now)

Call of Duty has Multiplayer, but no coop mode (would have to wait for a mod)

however the demos are Single player
the full game has MP (pretty darn fun)

All we can do is wait for now. Gabe and the others have their hands full as it is, and right now I'd say their priority is finishing the game (and I mean finished)....a lot is riding on this, and I don't envy him.:(

As soon as they have some idea of a timeframe I am sure they will let us know.

Best to leave them be and let them get the job done. No one works well with someone hanging over their should saying "is it done yet?"
 
after reading the whole Vampire the masquerade: bloodlines preview on gamespy, and visiting their new site,... Im looking forward to IT more than I am HL2.. simply because (although HL2 will be excellent) I prefer Vampires over Vortigaunts. :)

as for HL2.. man im tired of saying it but pple need to go play something else for a while and forget about HL2..

if u do that, u will forget about HL2 and than when its released u will be pleasantly surprised

I have no idea what's wrong with me, but I just mixed up your post and laughed out loud..

but yes, I agree, play something else, like CS (and waste the hours away! POINTLESSLY, TOO!), or.. MP2, or.. something, and soon enough, HL2 will be out!

...well, get something to take up ur time! I've watched "Another Given Sunday" 12 times already, and it just gets better each time..Also started playing hl1 all over, and got the new Sims expansion for some life controlling fun (Hey, if ur so stumped at vALVE than get the sims, make a vALVE family and make em have a miserable life..youll feel better ;) )

Well lets be fair, maybe he's at an intellegence level far above our understanding, and by simply using the english language he's considering it an insult.

I guess it would be a lot like if we were speaking in baby talk to a 40 year old man to explain everything.

I sometimes feel bad for those super intellegent beings that love to play Half-Life, having to deal with such limited human thought.
