I see that many people here hate consoles

say that consoles suck
say that the versions of HL2 and Doom 3 in Xbox will suck

but why?

why everibody hate consoles?

in my opinion the consoles hav nothing bad

the only things things that consoles dont hav and the PC hav is:

-online multiplayers and downloads
-programs to modifi the game
-downloads like maps, parcht and stuff like that

soo whats the big deal about the consoles?

what I like of consoles if that you dont need to upgrade thm to hav the games whit the best quality

another thing is that I dont think that consoles will eliminate the PC gaming
maybe in the future the consoles will hav a good quality that the PC will not reach but in my opinion the PC gaming will still alive

soo my questiong is why here everibody hates consoles?

I just dont think first person shooters belong on consoles. But other games are just fine. The control scheme jsut doesnt work for me, but hey, if it floats your boat, why not sail.

because consoles are dumbed down pcs made for the masses. Personally I like consoles, I own an xbox although I dont get too much use out of it cuz the games are subpar in comparison to pc games

People who point to consoles and say 'stupid' are infact themselves stupid. If a person can totally fail to appreciate anything in a dozen different genres only represented on consoles (fighting, racing, skateboarding) then they've gotta take their head outta their ass.
Its one of those things where since they don't play them, they're automaticly bad.

they dont hate console. its the truth. hl2 and d3 on xbox?lmao..

Because they're into gfx over gameplay, and only like a few gaming genres.

i dont hate consoles, in fact I own nearly every console from Commodore 64 to Xbox.
I just prefer a good PC, in that its where the best games are developed (except the odd Console only game)
also I love my mouse and keyboard, I love modding, modeling, animating blah blah... none can be done on consoles.

I agree a lot of games made FOR consoles, should stay on consoles
(deus ex2, Halo, etc etc)
the gameplay (as well as the gfx) does not translate well to the PC.

I like my Xbox, don't get me wrong, but it's only fun for a quick off-and-on play. The PC is where I get deeply involved in a game; I much prefer the graphics and control of a computer compared to a console. Both of those factors might not apply to someone else, but to me, they're incredibly important.

in my opinon FPS are not bad in consoles
for example I hav HL1 in ps2 and is not so hard to control
the multiplayer sucks but that dont mean that the HL1 ps2 version is worst game ever
also Halo and cronichles of ridick (that are 2 good games) are FPS and my opinion are not so hard to control, just memorize the butons and you will play it easy

but here almost everibody say that consoles and thats is a litle anoyning

sure one reazon is just that you play whit controls and the consoles haters are too lazy to learn to play whit controls (Ia m not flaming just joking, but sure what I say had some of true)

I get deeply in a console game just that in Pc is more easy to get involved

thats in the reazon of why everybody hate consoles?

its not a matter of learning controls <RJMC>, its a matter of responsiveness.
most people who say they hate the controls, say it because they have played PC for ages, and expect a certain amount of actual CONTROL over their character/game.

learning controls takes seconds, mastering takes minutes, putting up with trying to target an alien from riddick that moves hella fast and climbs on walls, gets up close while your still trying to roll your view around.. is eternal.

dont get me wrong, I rape most of my console only friends in most any game they choose, even though Im not a huge console player myself.
just in all honesty you cant say a lil thumbstick can compare to the freedom of a mouse and keyboard.

then again FPS games cant compare to Airsoft :D

The only gripe I have is that there aren't as many good games out.

Think about it: the PC gets most of the choice games from every platform at one point or another.

yes in my opinon a keyboard and mouse is more easy that a control

but that dont mean that consoles sucks

I made this tread cuz I see that almost every menber here say that consoles sucks and say more ridicolus things about it and in my opinion are nothing bad whit the consoles

one reazon maybe is the fanatisn

I disagree jonbob.

The sole reason I own a GC is for games that will never see the light of day on the PC.

If Resident Evil 4 was a pc title this forum would be filled with posts, polls and media from the game. However, it's on the GC - so many people don't even know it exists, or don't care. Which is a shame, Resident Evil 4 looks amazing.

I don't hate consoles. I just don't like playing FPS games on them.

I do hate PC developers who have gone to consoles because of their greed.

I dont know, ive tried to play FPS on the console and its way to hard. Plus i dont really like console games as much (except the FF series) as I do on the PC, in my opinion the Pc has better games

I don't think it is hard to play, but I feel like I am being restricted. I like being able to aim with 100% precision.

My Gamecube is pretty neat to have... for the few actual quality games it has... there's a lot of crap out there.

Prejudice is what can make man hate everything. I've got an Xbox and it rocks, PC is my favourite though.

here, we have say play stateon, it is very known and like.

but I like the key board more. it is nicer.

I say thenk you to keyboard makers.

PC is better for several reasons

1) Better control scheme
2) I'm closer to the monitor. It somehow draws me more into a game. Much better than a console anyways. When I play a console, I know I am playing a game. When I play a PC game, I sometimes loose that feeling of playing a game.
3) I love to tweak stuff with my computer. Can't do that with a console.
4) I prefer the genre of games on the PC. I don't see a console developing a RTS anytime soon.

Consoles are better for a quick pick-up game when I have 10 minutes of spare time. I can't do that with my pc.

I don't hate consoles. Some of my best friends are consoles.

Oh wait, thats my "I'm not a racist response" ;)

I have a Ps2, and I quite like it but most games on consoles just don't hold me. For some reason, console games are always more fun when you go round to someone elses house to play them...Or I suppose if you have someone round to your house. Even games like GTA 3/ Vice city are fun when tohers are sat around watching, or playing. But on the PC, its a much more solitary experience. Anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is that everyone here is a loser who likes to sit on their own in a dark room with nothing but their PC for company...:|

;)

I have a playstation 2, i like it, im happy with it.

But most pc games are better because they have more functions, and ( if you have a good computer ) they look better. And of course i use ps2 as a dvd player, im also very pleased with that.

Gamecube is also cool, but xbox not really o_O Ps2 got all the well known games, i dont care if xbox have better specs. But pc games the best

And how.
You're right though - whilst I've played GTA, for example, on my PC with a couple of mates in a turn-based way it's just not the same as playing Tekken Tag or Super Mario Kart (or whatever you crazy console kids play with) with a couple of friends. My current favourite is the High Noon game on Red Dead Revolver - Jack Swift's fantastic :)
Although the split-screen thing often confuses me - simple creature that I am.

teken tag is not a kids game
is cool and is a genre that I didnt see to much in PC
is fighting genre

-Mouse and keyboard use
-Patching, Modding....etc
-Goodie graphics

The best thing about consoles is that they're bug proof compared to PCs, and don't need to be upgraded that often.

Imagine a console with a keyboard and a mouse, and can support pc monitors, and has it's own harddrive. Then maybe PC games would begin to reduce.

Quite the opposite - PC games can at least get patches, any game that is released on a console with a bug in it cannot be fixed, unless the user has XBL or something (Splinter Cell: PT had to be patched very early after release.)

Fortunately they do make most good console games fairly bullet-proof, so thats not even not an issue.

You've just made a fool of yourself, at least try to prove your point. :|

I used to like Consoles because I had fun playing when a few friends were over. It simple gameplay with friends that makes it fun. We had a great time playing Goldeneye 007 back in the day. ;)
Consoles are simplified PCs.

I don't have friends over just for fun that much anymore, we go out. ;)
If they do come over to game they bring their PC.

Most perfer a PC because they can do everything right there and then jump into a game if they would like.
You can modifiy the games to exactly to your tastes. Anything from controls or settings to modifying the models and game code.

Also the multiplayer, being able to play on any server with anyone from across the world with a great number of players and gameplay modes. Also there is just more to the same game on a PC than when it is converted to a console.

What is the resolution on a TV? 640x480. What is the average resolution people use on a PC? 1024x768. Many use higher as well with much higher quality settings.
Generally console games have a lower poly count on the models than in the PC games, which stands out once you have seen the difference.

The variety, the power, and control of gameplay is much better on a PC. We are used to that. When someone says a console can match some aspect to the PC gaming, that's when it looks like everyone hates consoles. Consoles won't have what a PC does, but that generally isn't important to console gamers.

Yea I agree. I get so much more out of my pc games than my ps2 or gc games. Ive been playing DoD and Cs for about a year straight now and havent gotten that tired of them, and if I do I know theres more mods out there for me to try out. But a ps2 game such as devil may cry, I only get 8 hours of playtime. That used to not be a big deal but really now its dissapointing cause I just wasted 50 bucks on a 8 hour game I probably wont play through again. The only time I buy console games now is when I know they are of high value, such as mgs and ff series.

A big portion of those comments you talked about would be comming from me.

But the point I was trying to make was that fps games don't belong on consoles, unless they are willing to abbandon the joystick and go with either mouse+keyboard or something radically different.

I personally own a PS2 (well 3 actually :p ), a Gamecube (zelda pwnz me), a GBA and serveral older consoles. I enjoy all of them, A LOT. No Xbox because it doesn't have any games that really pop out at you (IMHO ofcourse).
I mean whats a true gamer without at least one console?

No if ya'll excuse me, gotta get back to finishing GT4 Prologue  :E

i enjoy playign console multiplayer more than on the pc because with xbox live, everybody usually has a mic so its always voice communication which is always quicker, and u get to know people yur playing better, dunno how to describe it but it just seems better gaming with somebody u can transmit emotions easier than with just plain text.

Except the microphones make everyone sound stupid... ;) And, just like in real life, more of them are annoying than not.

I've had Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 on pc once, it was horrible playing it on a keyboard. On a console, you just sit down comfortably on a sofa and dont have to think on how to control, its all intuitive. Of course some types of games, like RTS, are not playable on a PC. I feel very lucky to have a pc and console (xbox) because it satisfies all my gamming needs.

I must admit that I think alot (not all) of pc gamers are very immature when saying that consoles are stupid. I respect everyones opinion, but some people, especially on these forum have a very immature view of gamming. I find comments like "consoles are not good because they have bad graphics compared to pc" very frustating. Of course its fun to have very beautiful gfx, but that IS NOT what makes a game fun. If it was, then why did we have so much fun playing Tetris, King's Quest or Mario Bros. ?

Well, it's Microsoft we have to blame. When I get a new computer, I'd always expect only 70% of the games to work properly. That's why I say the consoles are alot less buggy to begin with.

RTS games are not playable on a PC? You just lost all validity in my mind.

As for Tony Hawk.. I have played it on my PC many times, with the Dual Shock gamepad.

RTS games and PCs are practically made for each other.

Games made for the console are just more fun on the console...At least if other people are around. I find that Consoles really are fun whn tis a group experience. When you are on your own, I suppose its alright when you wake up in the morning and you dont have anything to do that day so you stay in bed for an hour or so but other than that...

Pcs have other functions other then games such as word processing, the www etc....
FPS belong on pcs because of the mouse and the fact you need to be close to the screen to concentrate. A lot of rpgs, racing games, fighting games, puzzle games and many other genres belong on consoles though although rpgs + puzzle games are good for both.
