200 mods allready!

Lets hope atleast half will acutally be good and finish.

Just think, theres one mod in there that will be almost or as big as CS, most likley.

So in 5 yrs we'll be waitin for HL3, someone will just say, "play [insert mod name here] while you wait.":)

i wonder how many of those mods will even make it to any kind of public release, heh.

i want a runaway train 2 mod!! that would fucking own

YES, thank you.

I was going to buy that book because I remembered the description but not the name. Thank you.

And 200 mods, wow. A lot of them probably won't get finished.

EDIT: nvm, i understand, your welcome, one of the best books of all time.

That does sound cool...but I wonder what the gameplay will be like...will it be the zero-G training that the kids go through? Or will it be actual fighting against the buggers? I'm hoping for the first one, but an Ender's Game mod would be cool either way...hopefully.

EDIT: nvm :D

Yes that mod looks awesome

i dont think them fighting the buggers would work, but they could do the training part, and also towards the end they could have you take a part of a solider fighting the warshaw pack, on the hidden training colony.

It'll have to be between the kids because when he fights the buggers he's just sitting at a command center, he's not actually in a battle.

Why is this only SP? The kid skirmishes are perfect for a large scale-MP game.

I actually read Ender's Game a couple months ago and thought about how cool a 'Ender's Game' mod would be. Bouncing off walls and navigating in zero-g would be pretty difficult to implement... but if you could get past that it would probably be a lot of fun.

The 'buggers' whose main weapon against humanity is...BUGGERY!

I've been waiting for something like this ever since I first read Card's book for the first time. Now we just have to get the movie off the ground...

Which will be difficult. Where do you find excellent six-year-old actors in the kinds of numbers required for a film version of Ender's Game?

That book just sounds like utter shite, 6 year old genius kids who play-fight in null grav so they can defend earth against buggery. WTF!?

28 days later mod. -in my dreams.

Yeah, that would be amazing, the city is already in place, with a bit of modification i'm sure they could create the perfect atmosphere, trying to barricade a building as the infected guys attack it etc. Would be wicked!

cant judge it without reading the book though

True, sometimes the concept can sound stupid, but the execution is what makes it good.

Why even bother announcing a modification when you can't even do anything yet? I know I'm waiting until I have some actual material...

You should read it. Its one of the best Sci-Fi books I've ever read. Its up there in the top tier with Ringworld, Dune and a few others.

Oh so it's one of those weirdo cult type sci-fi things. :)

I prefer sci-fi like Michael Crichtons 'Timeline'. Now that was an amazing book, although everyone is entitled to their opinions, if everyone had the the same opinions the world would be a boring place.

Ya know, I have no personal knowlege of you, and no NOTHING about you, other than your screen name on this forum, but I think you're a awful human being. Some may say I should meet you first, and get to know you before making such a blanket statement, but **** that.

yeah.. both singleplayer and multiplayer there are so many possibilities..

imagine being on front of the mansion, it's a night map, the floodlights are on, your friend is manning the turret to your right, you have a giant machine gun and some grenades.. all the mines are in place, and then the infected come.. the sirens sound and all hell breaks loose, as they run up the lawn (you'd need someone to model really nasty good looking models for the infected) ... you're shooting infected left and right, seeing explosions in the field, seeing some coming from the sides being able to crawl up the wall...

that would be insanely fun/awesome, and definately do-able in my eyes.

Does nobody like Philip K. Dick? I've been reading some of his short stories and would base a mod on some of them if I had any talent whatsoever.

I wouldn't call Dune, Ringworld or Ender's game "cult," they're all very well known and respected books within the Sci-Fi community.

Crichton writes pulp fiction that I really don't consider to be hard Sci-Fi. Thats fine, and I do really enjoy a lot of his stuff. My personal favorite Crichton book is Sphere by the way.

You should really read some of these books before calling them "weirdo."

Hmmm, judging by your avatar, your rebuttle, and you comments on Ender's Game, you're one of those 12yr olds who finalized my decsion to quit playing CS

I LOVE Phillip K. Dick. Its just that he writes mainly short stories and we were discussing novels.

Hmmm, I loved the Ender series, especially the first two books, but Ringworld just didn't do it for me...the idea behind it was amazing, but the execution was pretty dull, in my eyes. Larry Niven is pretty good at that...the ideas behind his books are awesome, but I'm just not a fan of the writing...

Of course, a mod of Ringworld or the Integral Trees would be a lot of fun from a physical sense! :cheese:

Oh wait, Ringworld's been done, huh? (can you say halo???) Or at least mini-ringworld...

I would call dune cult, but seeing as i'd never heard of the other two until now i can't really comment, i was only joking btw.

I might check out Ringworld, it sounds like it might be good, but 'enders ame'....erm no.

Was there a game of ringworld made, i thought i might have seen one in a shop a while ago?

Sphere was a great book! The movie really really sucked though! Did it no justice whatsoever!

EDIT: Sorry...I'm getting way offtopic :cheese:

STFU and go and get buggered by a 6 year old.

Gaming? SF Novels?

PKD would be great...more of an "adventure" than an action game though.

Here's the literary tip 'o the day: if you like Philip K. Dick, you'll love Rudy Rucker! Rucker is much like PKD, but he is less concerned with mood and poetry and more concerned with invention and wild plot developments. Check him out homies.

Aside from that, Philip Jose Farmer's Riverworld would be a kick as a game.
