Why Half-Life 2 will be great.

Sphere was a great book! The movie really really sucked though! Did it no justice whatsoever!

EDIT: Sorry...I'm getting way offtopic :cheese:

The movie did indeed suck badly.

Gaming? SF Novels?

PKD would be great...more of an "adventure" than an action game though.

Here's the literary tip 'o the day: if you like Philip K. Dick, you'll love Rudy Rucker! Rucker is much like PKD, but he is less concerned with mood and poetry and more concerned with invention and wild plot developments. Check him out homies.

Aside from that, Philip Jose Farmer's Riverworld would be a kick as a game.

I agree with both statements.

Thats what happens in the book isn't it?

Lol, i just noticed your name, probably not the best person to have an argument with about 'enders game'.

Lol.

That was probably just Halo...

Hmmm, what about Rendezvous with Rama as a HL2 mod? I know there was an old point&click adventure game that was supposed to be pretty good, but I'd love to see that world in good ole 3d Source!

Especially with no gravity in the center, and a lot at the bottom...

Of course, that world is just too big for any current engine I think, way too much line of sight...oh well...

the buggers are a alien race. The 6yr olds do no physical fighting, they're stratigic genious's(sp?).

That would be really awesome...you'd have to change the story alot though. I think most of Clarke's work is a little too heady to be made into games.

Altough Ender is a badass in other ways...He breaks a kid's arm with very little effort at the start of the book.

Alright ender, argument thing over, your entitled to your opinion, i'm entitled to mine.

It doesn't sound very believable, is it really convincing in the book?

edit: 'buggers' is a ridiculous name for an alien race, it's like calling them 'bastards', unless they are insectoid, in that case it sounds childish.

Also a 6 year old could really only break a babies arm with little effort, unless he's a super genetically enhanced, growth accelerated, nano augmented mega genius. Which i suppose he may be.

Hey, you have to admit it *does* sound pretty damn ridiculous!

ugh, not the way they explain it in the book.

Just like all those little asain ****ers that kick peoples ass in chess, ahhaah.

It is done amazingly well actually...I would really recommend it. It's not a book geared towards kids, like it might sound. It tackles some pretty heavy issues as well...give it a shot!

Might as well, i've got nothing else to read at the moment.:)

You really should. Anyone I've ever loaned the book too was glued to it until they were finished.

Just last week I went to a CRAZY party with a group of friends...9 kegs, full bar with hired bartender, DJ, everything. Anyway, I'd loaned Ender's Game earlier that day to one of the friends I went to the party with. He sat in the corner the entire time reading the book...

At least 80% of those are gonna washout before they even get ahold of the SDK.
