9700 and 9800 are DX9

that can't be a serious qustion...

incase it is

NO the ATI 9000 is a DX8 product

NO if I wanted to say the 9700 and 9800 I would have

I know you knew exactly what I said anyways, you just had to write something.

Its really simple: 9500 figures and up are DX9. Below is DX8.1 (or lower) whether its got a 9 number or not.

Not really... It aint bad, but its like asking if the G4MX is a good card. Its not something I would advise to buy today :)

anyways.. if u saw the new hl2 tech videos.. in the wall video.. at the end it says that 20,000 polygons have been made into 1 polygon.. this means that even though it looks really good.. it will go easy on ur graphic card without any problems.. the only thing that ur cpu will really process alot is the animations and physics and that stuff.. but framewise i think the game will run just about good all ur pcs

The effect that reduces a polygon mesh to a normal map is only available on GF3 and above cards, so your assertion is incorrect.

A TNT2 can only support TNT2 features, so the game running on a TNT2 will look about as good as games that pushed that card at the time (Quake 3)

My best advice for anyone who is thinking of getting a new video card and wants the best out of it for hl2 but doesnt have too much money is to buy a ATI Radeon 9500 pro 128 mb.. i have one.. and it makes my games look AMAZING!! got mine for free.. my couzin works at best buy hehe...

BUT I dont think they make 9500 pros anymore... do they?? im not sure havent seen any for a while.. at stores

How does it make your games look amazing, do you mean it lets you put all the settings to full wihtout lag, or that it actually improves them some other way, so if you had the same detail settings on another card it wouldn't look so good?

well considering that the 9500 pro is a toned down 9700.. id say amazing as in i can play at 1024 x 728 with aa and af half maxed out most of the time..or if i turn of aa and af completely i can play sometimes at 1600 x 1200 and this is with 256 rdram

nice card, how does vice city look with it?:bounce:
