Why is everything in my map black?

I have lights, but everything still remains black! And every time i move my gun or something, it overlaps the screen (hard to explain). Whats the problem here?

Easy, just add walls and a roof, or walls and a 2d skybox

You really messed up somewhere to get that as soon as the map starts.

I have a huge skybox covering the level:

And i have the sky name set as "cl_desert" (also tried "desert"), none work.
Is there anything im missing?

There's probably a lot you're missing. Take a screenshot of the Hammer (better than the one above), preferably with the 2d views on it

Also 'cl_desert' or 'desert' isn't a valid skyname. I don't think that would create that problem

It looks like old CS, so desert is a valid sky--but he's definitely done something very wrong.
