Why is my computer so hot?

My processor fan is at 4440 rpm and chassis fan is at 661 rpm. I saw the CPU temp go up to 201 degrees celsius and 393 degrees fahrenheit, motherboard temp at 37 degrees celsius or 98 degrees fahrenheit.

I have a feeling that it's the chassis fan but it's never had a problem with heat before.

201 degrees celsius? sounds like an error, the computer would be completely melting and on fire

Definitely a fire hazard for sure! Have you tried resetting the BIOS yet?

Yea, that's what is so weird. But it restarted on it's own a while ago.

How would I go about resetting the BIOS?

The CPU is probably malfunctioning and or dieing a slow and painful death. How old is it?

There's a jumper(switch) on the motherboard that needs switching over, I'm looking for a pic now........

Definatley an error. No processor could take that amount of heat.

When I play BF2, some parts of the map turn completely black, but it's never happened before so I know something's up.

That's not too bad, can you give any more details like the make and its speed?

The jumper should look like this or "cut down" to this

Put the computer on its side to get some light on the subject. Look at the jumper references usually "JP1" or similar, there printed right next to the jumper. Most motherboards have quite a few so you have to make sure you get the right one. Look for a printed box with the reference in it. Some thing like "1-2 ON 2-3 OFF". Obviously the PC will be unplugged before all this, switch it over, plug her back in and press the power button(some PCs wont do anything, stay calm!). Unplug it, switch the jumper back too its original position, plug her back in again, see if your getting the same temp. If you are then the CPU needs replacing.

My mobo is an SiS651 and the processor is an Intel Pentium 4 2.52ghz.

It hasn't acted up yet so far. Maybe it was a malfunction.

Check all fans for operation and also check for any obstructions. BTW, what prog are you using to get the temp read outs? Everest imo is the best for it, but the readings are only as good as the sensors that are used.

I usually get my temps from the BIOS its self, cuts out the middle man if you get my drift.

Try switching the jumper over, it resets the BIOS from any third party changes, some you might not know about like a virus.

201 celcius?!
that's 2x the boiling point of water.. somethings messed up with your bios

My fan on my old comp once broke down, the poor overclocked Celeron overheated to 120° Celsius before the computer automatically froze out of safety measures :|

It's done that like 40 times before I found why it froze, and it's STILL alive and kicking :D

I think I see the problem. For some reason, my processor fan goes from 4440rpm to ~220rpm.

EDIT - Everest and PC Wizard are showing different rpms. PC Wizard is showing 220rpm and Everest is showing 4440rpm. Wtheckkk.
