Why does Vavle have to hate on us O.G. Ati fans. We are the ones who got the 9700 PRO before the 9800 got big.

Thats what I was wondering...I own a 9800 but I know the 9700 is almost as good.

According to ATI.com, the 9700 Pro is not discontinued. But one could predict anyway that it will be slightly better than 9700 and 5900, but not as good as the 9800.

since the 9500 is better than the 9600 shouldnt i perform a little better?

ok. Benchmarks with 9600 and 9500 on the internet, for some reason, the framerate for 9600 is always lower than that of a 9500. I've always wondered why this is the case...

Better English?

ive never seen a benchmark that used a 9500, but ive always heard 9500 is better than 9600, i dont know why though.

because the 9500 is a faster card, 9600 is slower, but 9600 is .13 micron

the 9500 pro has 8 pipes and teh 9600 only has 4 so the 9500pro is able to process gfx twice as fast as the 9600.

The 9500 is not made annymore due to that it is basicly the 9700 card with a sliglty less clock speed. Alot of ppl buy the 9500pro reflashes teh bios to teh 9700pro bios and overclocks the card so that it outperforms the stock 9700pro

i would do that if i knew at all how to

Is the 9600pro DX9? Im thinking of that card because im on a tightarsed budget.

have you heard of that new iformation database?? whats it called.......
ahhh yes The Internet, you should try that out sometime but be carefull you might learn something:dozey:

Google is your friend

Actually I've been looking into flashing my bios, but all the guides I run into for it are somewhat incomplete and don't give me enough confidence that I won't kill my card.

Direwolf

I did the 9500 pro flash w/overclock and have had great results thus far (I couldn't afford anything higher card-wise so this was the best alternative).

The best source of how to do it (including the new BIOSes and step by step instructions) that I have found is here:

Rage3d

funny thing is

the
9700pro
9800np
9800pro

usually bench within 1-5fps of eachother

Someone: Thanks dude! Followed the steps there (for the 9500 except with new 9700 bios) and everything seems to be running straight and true. I'm going to keep pushing my speeds up until I hit the Pro settings.

the 9500 bios flash doesnt work all the time, it is NOT guaranteed. many people experience CHECKERBOARD artifacts when they flash.

According to the Anandtech article the 9600 Pro runs at the same FPS in both 10x7 and 12x10 modes.

True?

Why?

EDIT: man this game looks like it was built for the 9600 pro!, who knew it would do so well even compared to its elder brethren? It even outperforms the 9700pro in that one test, WTF is up with that?

GO 9600PRO GO!
