why not make a half life movie

rofl, we don't want a movie with HL story it would be shocking.

Look how the Doom story was raped and defiled to satisfy movie studio types. It would be disgusting if the same thing happened to halflife.

There is a movie coming out soon called Half-Life, although surprisingly it has nothing to do with the game nor the time for a radioactive particle to decay to one half of its original mass. total bummer...

You could imagine it now.... Dwain Freeman (Gordon won't sell) wakes up in a motel only to be attacked by the A-Team. As it turns out he's actually a spec op troop who was gentically modifed to combat the threat of zombie terroism. Along the way he mets Alex... his tough talking, sidekick... who later loses all her clothes while programing a computer ("Click OK to haX0r everything"...). After fighting the zombie terrorists he's proclaimed winner of the FA cup and... I think my head just melted...

'... And it was then that Gordon knew he couldn't keep from falling in love. Those eyes, like clear pools where he could see himself for hours on end. That mouth he couldn't stop kissing. That silky hair runing throuh his gloved fingers. That's when he knew he couldn't keep it quiet any longer. They kissed passionately for what seemed like an eternity and then he said it: 'I love you, G-Man!'"

G-Man... no G-Man in this epic... he's been replaced by a talking iPod with a ghetto fresh attitude...

Apparently Valve have had serveral offers to make a film based on the half life series, but they have always said no, as the scripts never do the games justice

Make a film about the 7 Hour war!

It won't spoil the game for gamers. It could be designed to have a good action-scifi plot. It would make more clear the story etc....

Now that I think of it, it'd be refreshing to see a movie where the entire world get its collective ass kicked. No cheesy deus ex machina at the end, just a series of bloody-minded fights to the death.

Nah, that'd be interesting; Hollywood would hate it.

I like the 7-hour war idea, kindof like with the desperate pain and anguish of "Day After Tomorrow" or "28 Days Later", but without the stupid-ass happy ending.

Still waiting for a movie that actually ends civilization :|

The 7 Hour War would be loads better as a 24 style TV show. Showing it in real time over 7 hours would have more effect (due to the shortness of the war.. ie the thing that makes it different) than a 2 hour movie could ever give over. It would also allow you to let humans lose (which just ain't going to sell to rednecks/chavs as a movie ending).

But to be honest its stuck in the no-mans land between to much of a "geeky game" movie and being to far expensive to do as a inderpendant movie. You want the movie's SFX to look at least as good as the games...

Yeah but Hollywood would still Feck it up, America actually won the seven hour war, valve just got HL2 wrong!
And hollywood would still feck it up if they “try” to base it on the original game…
its not set in black mesa, but in a large American city, where The xen aliens end up being a terrorist organisation (environmental extremists) who want to show the world how bad and dangerous genetic engineering is, so they decide to release head crabs who end up not being aliens but genetically modified chickens developed by the environmental extremists to show the world how dangerous genetic manipulating is and why is should be stopped. So it is up to detective Gordon freeman, a tough cop, who is willing to up hold the law by breaking it. Gordon’s late wife was a scientist who was assassinated by these terrorists so when they show up in his city, he sees his chance for revenge. Barney plays his comical by the book partner who is a vital assent in stopping the terrorists but may be a thorn in Gordon’s pans for revenge. But things go from bad to worse, The terrorists end up kidnapping the police Chief’s scientist daughter.
So it is to detective Gordon Freeman to save the word, save the damsel in distress who he finds out he is madly in love with and avenge his long time dead wife and freshly killed partner Detective Barney Calhoun.

Detective Gordon freeman will be played by Bruce Willis
Detective Barney Calhoun will be played by Chris Tucker
Black mesa pharmaceuticals CEO Breen will be played by… forgot his name, “he plays count du-ku from star wars”
Police Chief Eli Vance played by Morgan Freeman
Alex played by Jennifer Lopez…

…In other words Hollywood will FECK IT RIGHT UP! They always do.

There was a TV-Movie in Australia called "The Beach" which is based on a book where the world ends due to nuclear war. It's cool because, being set in Melbourne, it takes the radioactive wind a while before it reaches the city and gradually every character slowly realises that their going do die. It was an OK movie.
