why oh why mess up all my settings valve

when i got the new update all the settings in hammer were deleted and made like they were new


anyone else have this happen

Happened to me too, if I try to fix them I still get error mesages.

yep - updated too. Then followed all the manual config info to the letter but can't get Hammer working again.. quite distressed as I'm working to a deadline here.

EDIT: OK, after resetting the game content (again) it's running again - however I keep getting this error when Hammer starts:

If I click anything other than ignore it quits and I have to start again - however if I do click 'ignore' the alert comes up a couple more times, clicking ignore each time eventually gets Hammer to load and I'm on my way.. the error is a little disconcerting though.

I'm having similar problems where no matter what i do it still is complaining about gameinfo.txt. I tried everything, even copying a gameinfo.txt into where it was looking for it. *Sigh*... im sure its something im doing wrong.

If you are trying to get it set up for HL2DM, make sure the HL2 one has gameinfo.txt set up too as this error was comming up for me until I fixed that.

EDIT: these are my working settings for HL2DM

Game exe:
$SteamUserDir\half-life 2 deathmatch

Game DIR:
$SteamUserDir\half-life 2 deathmatch\hl2mp

Hammer map:
$SteamUserDir\sourcesdk_content\hl2mp\mapsrc

for all to know just go in the sdk main thing and click reset game configurations and yay it is fixed

Hmm do you have the latest version of .NET ?
If not try this:

Also are you running as the administrator, or another user on your computer ? If you aren't the admin if you can try running it as the administrator that might help.

I'm running as admin - I'll look into getting that .NET update and see how it goes.

nope - still getting that error after updating .NET

However, once those errors are clicked away, Hammer seems to behave itself just just fine.

/shrugs.. (but in an extremely intelligent way!)
