I am having a strange problem that has recently started to affect my
source based games.
My background textures start to flicker, first a couple, then it spreads
to most of the background (walls, floor, objects, and eventually NPCs).
If I don't catch it in time and quit the game, it will eventually lock up the system.
(I do see a little flickering in Half Life, but it does not increase
of appear to affect gameplay when I checked).
When it first happened, it used to take a while of playing to see the flicker.
Now it is starting to happen after only a few seconds that I load a level.
I ran validate, and runsafe, and am still seeing the problem.
If I shutdown for a couple of minutes, and start fresh (to see if it might
be the system overheating or something), it still happens.
I have checked the forums, but I did not find a post that seems to
relate the same symptoms.
If you do know of a similar problem posted here or elsewhere, I'd
appreciate if you could point me in that direction, otherwise I
am looking for suggestions on what I might try next before
wiping my Steam folder and rebuilding everything from scratch.
Thank you for any assistance you can offer.
