Doesn't make any sense.

When I try to run "internet games" in Half-life, it tells me my Half-life executable is out of date, even though I have 1.1.1.0 version.

So I ran the auto updater. Guess what it told me!

"Your Half-life executable is out of date, but no updates for it were found"

!!!!!?!?!

I recently got my computer restored, but what the **** is this error message supposed to mean?!

I tried reinstalling and every thing, but no good.

Yes...Yes it does. Don't worry its actually really good. You can become one of us....One of us

In seriousness, Steam is far far better than WON ever was. It takes a short while to get used to, but after that its great.

Yeah, sure.

Fancy looking interface.

But look what I get.

Hoping it's a fixable prob.

I can join no CS servers.

Why is it always the sceptics that get problems? :s

  1. Do you have a firewall? If so, are the ports open (see Steam support page)?
  2. At what point during connection do you get this error?
  3. Are you playing on secure or insecure servers (add the VAC column to the server browser, rightclick on bar and choose it)?
  4. Can you play other games like HLDM?

lCommon fixes for that error.

log out of steam
log in to steam

close steam , delete clientregistry.blob, open steam.

I have a firewall, a big one too. But what's this port thing?

I played without steam with no problem, and I join servers regardless of security.
