My wife just bought me a Wii for my birthday. It's pretty awesome so far, despite the fact that it only comes with one controller and the video output is composite.

I've got it hooked up to my 42" 1080p tv, and after watching bluray movies for the last couple weeks, the image quality leaves a bit to be desired.

I know the Wii doesn't support any resolution higher than 480p, but I do see that a component cable is offered. Is it worth the $30 to get it, or will I not see any improvement since 480p on a 1080p TV is what it is?

EDIT: Found one for $14: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0..._m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1P0JVPPE126EENQMF68G

One of the reviews says that it should result in better quality and responsiveness due to my LCD TV not having to de-interlace the signal.

That depends on if the content actually supports 480p. If it does it will look quite better than your standard interlaced NTSC signal. The bigger benefit would be if it supports the wide screen 480p resolution since you won't be able to get that with a composite signal. You might want to check if it does, I'm not sure (wouldnt suprise me if it didnt).

I noticed a clear improvement with mine.

It is a good improvement. It's sharper but not more detail if that makes sense. (no increase in resolution or pixels)
You can do widescreen games too. ;)
