Hi,
I'm planning on reusing my current PSU. Will 350 watts be enough for the PC in my sig?

Thanks

yes its plenty if its a good quality PSU.

The peak wattage ratings are not nearly as important and the amount of output amperage.

I think it should b enough.

Might as well get my question answered also:

Is 300 watts enough for: Athlon64 3200+ , 1024 mb ram, ati radeon 9800 pro. Gigabyte MB K8VT800 Pro AMD64.

Or 350 watts?

And is the mobo good?

Tanka..get my mobo, nForce 250Gb it was $126 from www.zipzoomfly.com

I would suggest more than 300...mainly becuase of your 9800 pro which needs its own power source, and the A64s need their own power source too.
My PSU is a Codegen

I just bought a 480W power supply off newegg.com for 25 bucks.

I will say it again.

THE PEAK WATTAGE RATING IS NOT THAT IMPORTANT!

A quality 350watt PSU is better than a no-name 480watt.

I can have the 350 watt for 25 euro.

It says this:

- 350 W PSU
- TÜV approved
- Low noise: fan speed controlled by temperature
- Main power switch en low voltage power switch
- 12V (4-pin) connector en AUX connector voor P4 mainboard
- 4x connector voor 5,25 inch device, 2x connector voor 3,5 inch device

Anyway ill get the 350 watt then just to make sure.

Antecs, Forton, make really good PSU there are some others but I forgot.. PSU shopping blarh

But, a no-name 480 watt PSU is equivalent, or near, to a 350watt major brand. For half the cost, atleast.

well if you are thinking about buying a PSU because what you have isnt enough here is a link with 14 PSU's all reviewed.

Yep! Watts will give you an idea but not tell you specifics.

What really matters is not the rated watts but the amps on each rail. If a PSU puts all the amps on 3.3+ and 5+ volt rails but there is less than 20 amps on the 12+ volt rail then that may not be good enough depending on what you put in it. Even though it may add up to 480watts.

Plus quality manufactures use good capacitors unlike cheap PUS or no-name brands. AKA PowMax, Deer (Allied) etc.
Small capacitors will go much quicker than a good PSU with large capacitors when under stress and use.

Some of the good brands that are well known:
Antec, Forton, Enermax, Vantec, Thermaltake

1 GB of DDR(1) RAM uses a lot of power.

The A64 uses quite a bit less power than an AXP or P4.

Again, 300Watts from a good brand should be enough for the time being. Upgrading or adding harddrives may be another matter.
