Will EB Games be open?

Does anyone know if all the EB Games all over the US will be open at 12:00 to release it? Or will I have to call them to find out? What other staores are open?

I severely doubt that any will be open at midnight. This game simply does not generate the same level of irrational hype that Halo 2 generated because it's not a mass-market console game.

I accually asked my local EB store about HL2 at midnight. They didnt even know too much about the game it seemed like, they had to look it up. But from EB they said no midnight like Halo 2.

I went with my buddy to get Halo 2 and the EB Games Store manager said that they didn't send them many units of HL2. So I believe they will just sell them the day of the 16th.

No celebration, no clowns dancing around that look like the G-Man while 1000s of people wait in line. Just a simple walk up to the cashier on the 16th, transfer of money, and owning of the game.

Yea it's not that kind of hype..... So many delays, and issues the hype is down =\

If the game would have been finished though (not rushed either) by Sept. 30 last year than definetely stores would be open on midnight....

But you just get to go in, and get the game, get out, go play, get addicted.... lots of "g" words (gman)

The hype would not have been that great in the first place for the simple reason that it's a PC game that simply does not appeal to the mass market.

This isn't GTA:SA, Halo 2, MGS 3 for consoles or Sims 2 for the PC. Heck only a few Best Buys were open at midnight for Doom 3 and I doubt they made any profit off of the overtime they would have had to pay their employees compared to the sales that they probably made.

PC games simply don't warrant midnight openings - and that's the plain truth.

I think the constant release date pushing back has sort of punched the hype surrounding the game in the face. It's hard to get excited over something that could potentially be released 6 months from when you thought it was.

I manage an EB Games guys, there are no plans for a midnight sale of HL2 because the game isn't released at midnight in all time zones. we will be open regular hours. no halo 2 like madness sales... and to be honest, I'm surprised at the lack of hype/advertising and public interest in HL2... sure the forums and internet buzz is there, but for every 50 halo 2 questions I'd get 1 HL2. wacky

I still dont get why fans of half life 2 care if it becomes the worlds best seller or not.

if the game is successful, insanely so, it will pretty much garuntee that more games will be made. Valve invested a lot of time and money into HL2 and more importantly Steam. if HL2 doesn't become one of the most successful games of all time, Valve might not think its worth the risk next time and deliver a less-than-revolutionary game in the future.
