Will Gordon keep his pony tail?

I hope they've gotten rid of it. I noticed it in HLDM years ago, looking at a dead Gordon, and at first thought I was mistaken. Gordon with a pony tail!?

Although when you play Blue Shift and see him at the start, he doesn't have it. Maybe it was an early model joke by Valve.
 
Please tell me Gordon doesn't have a mullet!
 
The G-Man cut off Gordon's ponytail at the end of HL1. It wasn't in compliance with their "Don't ask, don't tell" policy.

At least we'll get the mini game of Gordon trying on different combinations of Alex's clothes, and the makeup sim.

That's why he was staring at Alyx again in the Kliener's lab video, he was picturing how fabulous he would look in her outfit.

I'm betting he grew it out, with the new source engine he'll be able to have a long flowing lara croft like pony tail. I hear from people who played the beta that there's actually a section where you have to use it as a rope to allow the prince NPC to climb up and rescue you from the dragon.

I hope the mods don't get mad at me for spilling that info.

I use to think he was cool! Dam him and his pony tail! dam him all the way to hell!!! He better have it missing in HL2 or im gonna start editing... ill make a mod and it'll be called HL2:No Ponytail for Gordon!
 
My prediction: he loses the ponytail but grows a mullet to appease his new boss Gman.. Business up front... PARTY in the back
 
If you check the top left of this page, his hair looks pretty short, so the tail is likely a no in HL2.

And for all you disenchanted gordon fans:
A pony tail is really just a form of mullet prevention!
 
Gotta see the gordon model in hl2deathmatch, thats the first thing i'll look for.
 
I heard through the grapevine that Gordon's going to have a mullet in HL2.

Here's to hoping he has an afro in HL3!
 
So HL3 is just going to be a 60's blacksploitation game?

Man, have there been any 60's blacksploitation games? Or have we as a society grown (rightfully) embarassed of such things?
 
i'm embarassed to be playing a game with a guy with a ponytail...

when will you geeky game dev's learn that your haircuts have been out of date for 10+ years. i'm betting on a mullet gordon for hl2 hahaha
 
Oi, I have a pony tail, and I ain't a "shirt-tail lifter" or nothing (not that there's anything wrong with that). I spotted the pony tail gordon while playing a mod for HL1 with a 3rd person cutscene.... wasn't that good for a mod but I remember seeing the pony tail.

That's kind of the point, ConSeannery. Gordon has a PHD in theoretical physics. Gordon is a geeky scientist. One of the angles of the game is the idea of the geeky scientist defeating both the military's elite soldiers and an alien attack force.

My point is, the ponytail was/is/shall be cool.

And embarrassed???? You played HL1 I bet, are you willing to say that you are now embarrassed by the fact that the protaganist had some extra follicles on the rear of his head?
 
I guess it's like learning that Gordon got herpies from a highschool girlfriend, and then being embarassed to play a guy who has herpies...

It's like learning Gordon fought off cancer in his youth and then being embarassed to play a guy who had cancer.

Yea that's a little bit better.

(edit: Forgot to add that it's silly to be embarassed about that because it really wasn't his choice, some people are just born with bad pony tails, or get them from whorish highschool girlfriends)

It's funny Chode.. that guy is complaining about a game character with a ponytail, yet his nickname here is derived from an actor who had one in numerous films
 
okay, lara croft may be able to pull that off, but it really doesnt work for gordon.

they shoulda given him long hair, that would have looked good in the source engine, and in strong wind it coulda blown over your field of vision for a bit of annoyance during the game, that'd be cool actually, add it with the torso, legs, player shadow :)
 
and if you got sick of it you could use some in game hairspray to change the friction value or mass value of the hair so it didnt get in your way

and the hairspray could double as a weapon when used near a naked flame or Gordon's lighter (assuming he takes up smoking :))
