Will HL2 get perfect reviews?

I bet they'll knock it down because of system requirements and such. Unless someone as biased as this reviewer. I think almost no game should get perfect reviews. It'd have to be the best game ever including every genre out there...puzzle, rpg, arcade, fighting, adventure, platform, fps, etc. all in one huge long game. I bet they'll be finding anything they can to give it below perfect.

It could certainly get a knock for it's Nvidia support...or lack thereof.

but all these theoritical reviews assume there are no bugs. lets hope there are no annoying bugs that make it into the gold release.

Anywhere from 80-99% in most all reveiws.....

There will be a few people who will hate it....have to factor them in.

Imho the problem with review rating systems is that all ratings given are too high and often not worked out 'mathematically' at all.
One would assume that the whole reason in using the percent system in the first place was so that games could be rated out of 100 thus giving a large capacity for different ratings and a more precise score (again imho better than this 4 out of 5 stars business).
The problem seems to be, as each game came out and a certain reviewer was very impressed by it they would rate it far too highly, thus requiring them to push up the review score of every game they rate thereafter. (you rarely see a game worth buying rated less than 80%). Having worked for a computer magazine myself (PC FORMAT, UK) i know that the ratings that games are given are generally plucked out of thin air.
It is my opinion that any game rated above 75% should be damn near perfect - and lets face it, they more often thant not aren't. Games that are simply 'good' should be more than 50% (which should still mean it's a reasonable game) but nothing, ever should have got more than 90% or even 80%. Some form of review system needs to be formulated by someone with a weighted deterioration over time so you can compare games properly.
I'm a bit tired and i realise that i have rambled and probably not explained very well what i was trying to say.... but well it's been bugging me for a while. Everything is rated too high goddamnit

exactly, PC Zone is one of the few magazines that realises this, they even say so themselves, too many reviewers think 50% is a crap score, when in actual fact its average, not bad, but not that amazing :)

I predict PC Gamer will do one of those 1/4 page reviews where all they do is make fun of the game, and then give it a 4%.

Or, this thread reminds me of going to EBgames.com and reading the "reviews" of games that haven't come out yet.

You worked for PC Format? When, I have Back issues of PC Format going back to 1995.

Typhon, those are the reviews I always read first.

you guys are all far too excited. Let the game be released before yo ugo saying how great wthe gameplay is.
no doubt in my mind it will rock, but I don't think its wise to go giving it 100% already.

but there has to be somethin. i mean i myself will give it 100%!!! cause i mean even the modding is suppose to be easy!

but what is perfect in the game world!

You guys must have the game already.....

Wati until the game comes out. You realise there is such a thing called 'hype'. The more hype something, the less chance it has of standing upto expectations and the more chance you will be dissappointed with it. Tell yourself it's going to be crap so that you can have the best time possible with it.

IGN Pc gave Black and White a 9.7, their highest rating ever.

Maybe after HL2 comes out, there will be new game at the top of the score charts.

99.5/100
as what i saw in the trailers and footages This Game Gonna Make Millions Millions Of $$
And Gonna Be The Best FPS Ever...hmm
I WANT IT NOW !!!...

some people really expect too much from it  , wonder how many people will be dissapointed

Pong and Pacman are the best games ever, they should get 110%.
HL2 will probably get 99% :)

As far as I know VALVe, they are doing everything for the gamers. If gamers like it, it's in, if not, it's out. That means there is a pure gamers game, with everything they wished for.
Though there's no such thing as a perfect review. Every one got his own opinion.

you can be sure hl2 will not have 100% only because of the sales of the game (hl2 solo only or hl2 with solo&multi).
The obligatory connection with steam. etc..
