Will HL2 make G.O.T.Y?

FPS in general get less preference in GOTY awards. Halo and Half-life didn't win as many awards as GTA III or Zelda(s).

Anyway - PC mags "might" favour HL2, but general review sites like gamespot and IGN will favour console games like MGS 3, GTA:SA and Halo 2.

Er HL won way more awards than GTA 3. At least from the development community side of things.

Well I assume it will be halo 2 because Hl2 won't be out in 2004.. :flame: because if it were going to come out Valve would give us a date.

I don't know. It depends when they release it.. Since it's so much.. "trouble" with VU and Steam now, I really can't imagine HL2 Game of the year.. But we'll see.

How could it not?

Consider the alternatives... Only great PC games that came out this year were Farcry, Doom3, Sims2 and Rome Total War. And by great games, I mean ones that sell and are well recieved by the general public and reviewers, cause personally I hate the Sims. Farcry so far is GOTY material, and Doom3 is GOTYD (disappointment) in my opinion. Rome, while a good game, doesn't seem much of a candidate, except maybe RTS of the year. Trying to think of another great game this year hurts my brain, so as long as the game lives up to mosts expectations, as I am sure it will, it will no doubt be GOTY... let's just hope it's of this year
