Will HL2 on steam affect game charts?

With all this talk of steam and release dates I'm wondering whether the amount of subscribers will have an impact on how the game charts. I don't doubt it'll make number 1, but given the other games appearing at the time I do wonder if it'll have an impact on the length of time it stays at the top. Or are Steam sales taken into account? (If they were then HL2 should be in the charts at the moment! )

No it won't. Since the game chart is only taking into consideration of particular purchases from a certain store/branch.

lol game charts means nothing .. lol the sims was like #1 for a while .. while being a good game it is nothing compared to what hl2 will be

I don't know how the charts are calculated. Chances are that they only use retailer based sales numbers, thus leaving out the amount of copies sold on Steam.

But if I may add my opinion: I couldn't care less which position any game makes on any chart, as long as it's fun. Sure it's nice to see it's high up there, but we already know that.

I agree wholeheartedly. HL2 must beat every other game out there :frown:
