Will HL2 work on this rig?

I've got a Toshiba laptop

Nvidia GeForce4 (64 mg)
Intel 2.4 GHz
512 RAM
40 Gb hard drive

I ran Doom 3 on the low settings very smoothly, and pretty well on medium settings...My problem is never being able to run games, but more being able to run them smoothly...Dyou think I can get frames good enough to enjoy the game?

you could download the metal grear bench mark test, check your FPS, i pulled ~23 average, and i run it perfect, everything on medium, textures on high..

Yeah, it'll work, on low-medium settings. Don't even think about setting anything to high or using AA/AF.

Depends what kind of Geforce 4 card he has...

I have a Geforce 4 TI 4200 (128 DDR, though), Athlon 2800+, 512 mb DDR pc-3200 and I run the game at high, with the water reflections patch.

Runs great...

Yes.

I have a PC w/ same specs, except bigger HD, AMD processor and GeForce MX420(64mb) vid card. HL² runs perfectly fine.

Clear out about 4 gigs of space on the HD, and you should be fine.

Now stop wasting time and go buy it!
