I'm asking this because I'm SCARED...
I just upgraded my comp with the budget my parents gave me (I'm 13 so they didn't want to give me too much, only $1000 CDN)

My specs are:

Pentium 4 - 2.6 ghz processor
nVidia GeForce FX 5200
17'' Monitor
512 Megs ram
Radeon Motherboard (for what it's worth)

Will Halflife 2 run smoothly on high settings (1080x768) with this setup???

Arghh....I suggest you check all the other information out there on this before posting. Or at least go to the hardware forum.

I need to talk someone into letting me have 600 dollars.... hmmmm

My guess is that it should run fine, but I don't know very much about radeon motherboards or the 5200.

$1000 CDN is what, $10.00 US? :p J/P

Nah, it should run fine. I don't know if the 5200 supports dx9 though. I haven't owned an Nvidia card since the TI4600's. I went with a 9800 Pro after.

HL2 will run fine on your machine, source is an extremely flexible graphics platform and your computer is upper/mid class atm

It says it does and I have DirectX 9.1b so..

Thanks for the replies guys, I'm not scared anymore... :D

ya, it should run fine. i need to upgrade my ram though from 256MB to 512MB. Does anyone know how much this costs?!

closed. There is a plethora of palces where you can find the minimum specs, and then 5 minutes in the hardware software forum will answer this questions 8-10 times over.
