The answer is....no! :cheese:

"Will this game be smooth and run at highest graphics?"

*making question more specific*

The question: Would this rig run HL² at 60+ fps at all times with all the eye candy on, 4xAnti alisation 16x antisobtric etc., and set up in 1600x1200?

And this is very hard to answer without actually trying but I don tthink it would at all times, but definetly enough to do it satisfying. IMO

Anisotropic affects framerate more than some people would think, especially sprite effects like fire and smoke .

1280 ram ?!? wtf?

why? if you took out the 256 mb mem stick that would probably improve performance (prob not noticeable tho)

Will probably look like crap.

And those XT's cards have a very weird bug, combined with a 2700+ they can't run pixelshader 2.0 intensive games any higher than 800x600x16 @ medium detail or else it'll mess up it's BIOS. So when you have HL2, NEVER run it higher than 800x600, NEVER or you'll have to throw your card away!!

PvtRyan speaks the truth. Also, don't play with a left-handed monitor, or try to play it with anything less than a Soundblaster Audigy 4.

now i swear this is true, i bought a 9800 xt and plugged it in and all was wonderful, but for some reason my mouse stopped working. i tried all sorts of stuff and eventually discovered it only worked if i was sitting in my boxer shorts.... mental huh?

seriously though, am i going to be buying a 9800 xt and you had me worried for 0.3 seconds there pvtryan... :E

My Radeon 9800XT card run smooooothly for me, im using the best resolution in Deus Ex 2, and so in Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness, i cant wait to play Half-Life with it!!!

noneseens... works fine here.. but i have not play Half-Life 2 yet..

But seriously, this thread is useless and obvious and it's in the wrong part of the forum too.
This is like asking the Ferrari dealer if your new Ferrari will be fast enough to drive on the highway.

Wow Bitchslapper, you have a hundred gig of ram?

(PvtRyan was joking, BTW)

lol.

i just notice that.

thank god for the computer iliterate!

locking this, there's plenty of other threads like this in the hardware section and serves no purpose other than to act as a my video card is bigger than yours thread.

People, if you want to know if it'll run on your systems, check the stickies over there or wait till the game is released and find out the official specs, as right now, nobody knows what the official minimum and recomended specs will be.

Thanks.
