Hehe :)

Don't you guys know that Athlon64 3000+ preforms like an Intel P4 @ 3GHz or sometimes even better? :p

Yeah don't even bother with 1.8ghz and I'm too tired to explain it right now (just set up new computers in my high school for 8 hours 9-5) but anyway the Athlon 64 3000+ will perform better than a P4 3.0ghz in games.

in amds u dont worry about the ghz speed u look at the name ex:3000+
3000+ = 3000mhz+ = 3 ghz+

Processors fine.
You see, an AMD does more per turn but less turns. An Intel does less per turn but more turns.
It's kinda like this for games anyway,
There are 2 trucks, A and I.
A can do 4 tons, at 40mph.
I can do 2 tons, at, 78mph.
Thats more how it is for games. Plus AMD's usually produce less heat thus making the more overclockable thus making them even better...

Well, now the rating doesn't really make any sense. It used to be based on the performance of one of amd's old cores, now it's just a number. The 3000+ overclocks very well.

I don't use the quote feature, I just copy the text and press the quote thing and paste.

i think more people should buy a decent but cheap processor then get an expensive cooler and overclock it and save lots of monies!!!

for example, you can get a 3ghz pentium 4 for about 100 pounds, overclock it to 3.4ghz safely and save money. the 3.4ghz pentium 4 retails at about 150-200 pounds

Can't you just get a 3.4Ghz and overclock it to 3.8?

yes the point being is that you get more 'bang for ya buck'

the 3.4ghz processor retails at 200 smackers, you can get the same performance as the stock version by OCing the 3ghz one costing a mere 115. =P

anyway, cant you just get the 3ghz and overclock it to 3.8? = ]

AMD procs are much better for overclocking because of the architecture. The one and only problem with overclocking is heat, but since the AMD 64 architecture generates less heat but does equal the amount of work, you can overclock it far more than a p4 proc, thus giving you equal heat but much more power.
