Truth. If he had just died then he would soon be regarded as some sort of pop culture hero, but THIS...... BTW I think Scientology is the next Christianity - soon its true roots will be forgotten and people will think it obvious to believe in it.

I remember that story a few months ago claiming Will Smith admitted to being a Scientologist and people were up in :arms:, after reading the source I realised he just said he thought it was a legitimate religion.

When it comes to committing terrible acts, how is Scientology any worse than other religions?

Would you have reacted this way if he joined Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, or any other religions? Why not?


The list of terrible things that Scientology is responsible for is nothing compared to traditional religions.

Scientology held events worldwide regarding the anniversary of Dianetics on May 17. The Church of Scientology: San Fransisco celebrated Dianetics Day at Hotel 480 in San Fransisco. A fairly small group of 25 anonymous members decided to do a mini protest outside the hotel, where a female anonymous member was assaulted and attacked by an angry woman who denied being a Scientologist, but was seen standing and talking with Scientologists.

Anonymous members held their small picket outside the hotel informing the public about the Church’s corruption and questionable history, fliers were also passed out. These actions had angered the nearby woman causing her to walk up to a peaceful protester’s face and start yelling at her. She also threatened the female anonymous member to throw her down the hill. After calming down, the lady left and headed for her car which was parked about 15 feet away.

A minute later, the lady returned once again yelling and screaming followed by attacking the female protester. The lady grabbed the protester by the throat with one hand and shoved her toward the street with heavy traffic. The female protester managed to break loose while another protester stepped in to protect her. After the fight had broken apart, the police were called up by several protester regarding the situation.

Five minutes later, the police arrived. Five protesters gave their statements to the authorities and one handed a full video regarding the whole scene. The video is currently held at the SF police department as evidence and is not uploaded. However, another video was shot by another protester which is uploaded on YouTube. Many anonymous members also gave the authorities their contact information to be called as witnesses. Interestingly enough, the church is pursuing assault claims on the two protesters while the protesters were the ones really being attacked. The situation is still extremely uncertain, more details will be posted later later.

To those saying Scientology is not worse or equally as bad as older religions...

How can you even say that, when Scientology is very young, whereas other religions have been around for thousands of years... especially during notoriously cruel and violent periods of history where little of the world could exactly be held up to noble heights.

Give Scientology time and I'm sure it can do just as horrible.

The problem with attacking Christianity and Islam is that they are more based in political foundations than religious ones. You can't say the same atrocities wouldn't be made if the two didn't exist, it's a moot point anyway since the days of witch burning and war for the spirit are at an end (the conflict in Iraq being a war for resources- hell you could even say the Crusades were started based off mere political interests). Scientology, however, is a pyramid scheme and it is very much a scam for both people's money and their bodies. If conning people for their money is illegal, Scientology is very much an atrocious crime several degrees higher in magnitude than organized crime, perhaps on par with polygamist radical Mormon pedophile rings.

EDIT: Thinking about it some more, the only thing I can counter is that, while it may be claimed - or even true, that the American invasion of Iraq is over resources, I think its safe to say that terrorists aren't fighting for resources.

However, I think if Will Smith decided to become a Muslim extremist, I'm sure then that there would really be an uproar.
 
Islamic terrorists aren't granted tax exempt status by the US government either, so there's not really a parallel.

"Terrorists" are pawns being used by central political/religious leaders. These figures are, in turn, used by larger governments for their own political ideologies. War is a business, whether is be over land, resources, or people. The want of political, economic, and military power are the only causes for it. The insurgency is an attack against the US to gain local power in conflicted regions and garner strength globally for their cause. If I were an aspiring Muslim political leader in Iraq, I'd be concentrating my efforts on guerrilla tactics while promising pay to the families of insurgents who died in the line of combat. After the US withdraws from Iraq and the conflict is over, I'd herald it a victory of not only Iraq but one for all Islam. Peace is definitely not a strong position to hold when there are so many young and blind minds to corrupt. You can't enslave a bunch of intelligent and motivated people, and you especially can't control them.

Being a scientologist seems to be the fashionable thing to do for hollywood stars at the moment.

Sort of... I was mostly referring to them paying exorbitant amounts of money to get exp and go up levels, gaining powers and skills.
