I hope the first. That would mean the game would be playable about 2 days prior to release.

In an ancient thread we discussed on how in some countries, stores sell their copies when they recieve it (thus even before the actual releasedate). I live in one of such countries, and it would really suck if it would be available in stores, but still locked on steam.

REALLY SUCK.

You will be able to play it on the release date. If you can buy it in a store before the release date those stores are in violation of the law and you should report them.

what kind of a loser would report a store for something like that haha?

Zzz..

10 threads on this.

No, you have to wait for the actual release date...

Other stores do (for obvious reasons).

Anyway, since it requires activation via Steam even if they do have a retail copy they can't play it.

i suppose we will all be able to play it in accordance to the RELEASE date. So if its released at lets say 8am in America...thats gonna be like 12am in the UK and so on. A lot like how the CS:S worked i rekon!

I just can't imagine what will happen to Steam on the minute ... the second of the release! Will there even be a Steam 5 minutes after the game is out? Just "try" to imagine the amount of traffic on their servers ...

Well VALVe has been able to transfer hundreds of gigabytes to millions of people, so I'm sure unlocking the game won't be hard....

are you sure?

Over 100,000 people preloaded HL2 files at once, I think a 10-20meg file won't crash everything when HL2 is released. They have up to 14gbps don't forget that.

What law? American law?
VUg's retailer agreement is undoubtably customized for whatever country it is being sold in. If the laws of that country do not allow for VUg's terms, then they would probably not sell their software in that country.

How about international copyright law, international business agreement laws and what about sheer integrity? Get some balls and wait like the rest of us.
