Will the shops sell out of HL2?

Will a copy off half-life2 be as rare as rocking-horse sh*t?

  • Nah, the planets manufacturing might will be entirely devoted to churning out half-life2 packages. t

Remember in Interloper in HL1?

Remember that manufacturing plant?

That was for HL2.

Most shops, especially small ones, will sell out.
They'd be stupid not to buy enough copies when they know the demand will be so big - it reflects badly on them. I seriously doubt it'll sell out. Come on folks, this is HL2, not Harry Potter.
And as for Steam crashing - Valve are, I'm sure, extremely hard at work perfecting servers etc. so that such a thing couldn't happen. However bad a sold out shop would look, if Steam crashed and people's downloads f*cked up, Valve would never be forgiven.

I completly agree, I highly doubt steam will be in its 8 months ago (ish) state with it crashing and being buggy to feck. its been over half a year and most of the problems have been solved, its not perfect yet, but it works. When hl2 is released I doubt it will be laggy and shit cause they say its gonna be uploaded into our caches weeks before the release which will be the majority of the steam buyers, then on the release date it will be just a few first signing up to steam to dl it.

If it's uploaded to the cache is it not possible to crack that in some way?
I know very little about Steam and the way it works, but I seem to remember someonemanaging to get the G-Man bink vid a few days before it was released properly from the cache.
On the other hand, I could be speaking out of my arse.

there will be more copies in the store than we can ever imagine, cause it HL2.

there would me more copies in the store than we can ever imagine, cause it's HL2 man!!!!!

Unreal Tournament 2004 sold out for me. And, I don't feel like pre-ordering for a game that's release date is never definite. Either way, I have an EB and a Best Buy withing 10 miles from my house. :D

Sold out ?, never!
Hopefully valve know how much they have hyped this game enough to release LOADS of copies

I've recently got married so my HL2 mania will be dulled somewhat by the fact that my wife will not understand my enthusiasm for a "Bloody computer game". Still, I'll buy it from GAME or EB on the day it's released. If it's a week day I'll have to go to town on my lunch hour to grab it before the kiddies (no offence to the younger forum members) are out of school. If they sell out I'll prolly get it from play.com or amazon.co.uk.

With ordering it through steam... what methods will be available to carry out the transcation? MASTERCARD and VISA are the usual ones but will there be SOLO (UK) or PayPal? I hope so seeing as i have a solo card alongside a paypal account

i will end up calling Gamestop day after day

"When are you getting hl2, is it tomorrow's shipment?"
"When are you getting hl2, is it tomorrow's shipment?"
"When are you getting hl2, is it tomorrow's shipment?"
"When are you getting hl2, is it tomorrow's shipment?"

until they get it. At which point i will be waiting in the store with my 40 bucks already in hand, 1 hand on the counter, giving dirty looks at anyone who dares get in the way of my hl2 crusade, ready

Has anyone ever got a "sorry we're sold out" when trying to buy a new game?
ýeah, i did... can't remember wich game it was though, but it was very hard to accept it was sold out

I won't be pre-ordering until (if ever) you can specify which version I'll end up with. Having five Half life 2 CD's coming through the post in a nice Amazon box might be a special moment, but I wouldn't want to then walk into Game and find the super extreme DVD special edition with real ife headcrab and a blood splattered crow bar (hacker's blood, naturally)that I can't afford because I'll probably STILL be unemployed.

Or I could get a job in a video game store and get fired for stealing my copy as soon as the shipment arrives.

I bet my check from Game that I recived on X-mas eve is out of date. So whan I come running to the shop the day HL2 comes out they will say: I'm sorry, these checks are out of date, please pay with cash" And then, I will burn down the store.

I don't think theres that many pc gamers in my city... so maybe not. Could be wrong though.

Yeah in my city I go to GameStop and they order like 2 copies of each game. :sniper:

Exept if you pre-order like I did with HL2. :)
