Will there be a Counter Strike 2 , when HL2 comes out?

ok there are kids who play CS who moan complaim spam etc. but there are normal ppl who play! just find a decent admined server! CS can be fun with team work!
I imagine it can be fun, I once watched a properly played game and it looked like great fun. Alas its rare :(

In responce to the original question. I think it is quite likely.

I may play it if it is fun, I don't play CS usually :E

I still say CS2 will beat TF2 to a release... and possibly even come packaged with HL2 (unless someone at Valve has already denied this while I wasn't paying attention).

Yeah, someone at VALVe already denied that, pay more attention! :D

I know they said no to TF2, but the last I heard of CS2 was "no comment."

When was this?

Fenric, I understand the density and physical properties change also. valvE are calling them materials..

Right, no one ever said anything about analyzing a pixel and generating a behaviour for it. Each texture is bound to a material class. End of story.
Same as each texture in HL1 was bound to a sound when you hit it with a crowbar.

Actually they have been working on CS2 for quite some time.

Oh Yeah, I dunno what I was thinking! Triiiiiipy....

Yah, that's true. I hope it'll incorporate all this new cool physics stuff into it.

I probably read it in the massive Info from Valve Only thread in the HL2 Discussion forums, but I'm not positive. I'm pretty sure that they will release CS2 as a seperate package like they did when they first sold CS1 retail. But with this new "$10/mo for all new Valve content" I'm not too sure if its going to be like that.

Thank you for understanding, vegeta. At least someone could figure out what I was rambling on about.

TF2 is going to be released this year after Half-Life 2(estimated) and as I said before theirs not even proof that CS2 is in development.

Proof (old)
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/teamfortress2boa/index.html

Of course info is very rare, but its in development more then we know about cs2

There is a CS2 in development (and has been for quite some time) and some of the people that made the original CS are working on it.

PROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOF???????? WHERE

CS2 with HL2's physics and graphics would be uber kule.

Here is your proof: http://www.csnation.net/content/search.php?scope=newscate&type=equal&find=512

If I remember from the video it showed him making new animations. One where a player get shot in the back. This was shown on CBC (Canadian Brocasting Company) quite some time ago.

This is from Gooseman:
[Sorry, but] it would require a lot of time and effort to get the hit animations back in CS and at the moment, that's something I dont have.

I'm working full steam ahead on CS2 and I can tell you I plan on having MORE hit animations in CS2.. I (like yourself) was disappointed to see them gone as I felt they added a great sense of feedback (you knew if you were hitting someone).

Important update: You can see clearly that Gooseman has made a G36 model. It's safe to assume that this will be in CS2!

etc. etc.

I'm surprised that video hasn't made a very huge splash. Anyway if you find a working link please post it!

Edit: Nevermind, I posted too late.

Got an idea on how cs 2 will work:

Example:

Someones camping in a corner. You go on the ledge overlooking him and throw a nade at the support over top of him. CRUSH!

Sounds good to me.

I tihnk CS2 will be awesome even if all kinds of new options arent in it. It will just be mad sick playing CS in those 1337 a55 gfx.

CS2 will definitely come out, but I don't know how it will integrate physics into the game... I hope they can use the Source engine well.

All those amazing physics and effects that HL2 has would be awesom on a realistic shooter, any1 know if they are gonna work on a CS2 in the Hl2 engine?

CS is not realistic.

Yet CS2 will be closer

I very much doubt it. Otherwise Valve would lose the CS community. They would stick to the current POS and it would rip the community in two.

and the signature map in CS2 should be an assault on valve HQ to steal HL3 and destroy gabe and the team so they cannot delay HL3 with excuses.

The community is already ripped in two. 1 being people playing on WON servers. the other playing on Steam servers. But CS:CZ won't neccesarily rip the community in two, because CS:CZ mulitplayer will be CS 1.7 Yet whether or not CS2 creates seperation of the community the fact remains that with greater physics comes greater reality in gaming. Its not really close but its closER

CZ will split people because you will have to pay for it.

In CS2 there should be molotov coctails for terrorists and the fire that they generate should burn for a few minutes. It sould also only cost $1.17 per bottle. Unless the map you are playing happens to be in California. Then it would cost $5.29 a bottle.

damn will i laugh at people like you, dissing at cs and cs2 when it's out :p

paying for mods is B**LSHIT, and u probably know it, u just wanted to diss about something , didn't you? :]
this was NEVER confirmed..ppl like you make other ppl believe weird rumors.

Maybe you don't understand English very well but CZ = Condition Zero.

You WILL have to PAY for Condition Zero.

Hmm to a certain point, last I heard they were going to slowly release the guns/maps from CZ to the public from version to version.

i would die over cs_assault on the hlalife 2 engine X_X it would be so nice with that vent shaft say someonedied in thare they flop a bit then if someone else trye dto some... you got this corpse that needs to be moved and well... it would make a bit of noise ^^ physics are good depending on witch way you put it. awping on italy and missing the ct right infront of you and miss...~4750$ but the bullet going thrwew the wall and hsing some ct canmping in the left side of tunnel... ~priceless~ (this really did happen it was so golden haha but anyways back to CS2militia awpers fall off the roof weapon falls to (eazy ak-47) ect...

I would hardly call that a split. Look at BF1942 their community isn't going to "split" because of Vietnam. It surely didn't with Secrete Weapons nor Road to Roam.

Well actually it might split, because you can't play condition zero with cs 1.6 only.
you can however play cs 1.6 with cz.

The maps in cz are different, they have new geometry for one, which makes it impossible unless someone puts cz maps on their server.

I think that CS2 on Source is a very good idea.

I used to play CS ALOT maybeh 1-2 years back, and it was fun then.. Now it's too much cheating for my tastes, and it seems the community's average age has dropped 7 years...

Physics would make killing people more fun, and something simple like shadows could create a new tactical element..
And for god's sake... the physics in CS are ridiculous... Grenades damage through any wall without actually breaking it, and as someone already said, some weapons can shoot through anything..

I'll try it when it's finished (at least if I don't have to pay for it)...
