I've had my computer for 3 years now and I've always had my subwoofer right beside my monitor, and I was cleaning my desk and when I moved the subwoofer it discolorated the side of my monitor, I turned my monitor off then back on and it fixed, This is the first time I noticed it, I know its the magnet inside the subwoofer, but as long as the woofer doesn't move is my monitor ok? or will it eventually screw it up?
As long as the woofer doesn't move my screen looks normal, So will this someday just F up my monitor, or am I fine as long as I don't move the woofer?

The way the monitor works is an electron gun fires an electron, and magnets move it to the appropriate pixel, which lights up with the appropriate colour. The sub magnet is simply pulling the electrons "off course". As such, I can't think of any way the sub can damage the monitor. Mind you, powerful magnets can damage your PC itself.

Subs should really be on the floor. I'm not sure what damage it would create with the monitor though. Generally people only put magneticly shielded speakers by their TV/Monitor.

Yeah that could cause damage. Like he said, most people use magnetically shielded speakers close to TVs and monitors. If you don't they can ruin it. Shielded speakers won't do a thing, even if you put them right on top of the monitor. They are safe.. Unshielded speakers on the other hand.. Well, lets just say move the subwoofer far away from the monitor.

This isn't really a big woofer, It's really small, maybe 30 cm high, and as long as I don't move it alot it doesn't do anything to my monitor, and it pretty far away from my actual PC

If I were to put such a subwoofer under my computer desk, which houses not only my PC, but my modem and router, would the magnetic forces damage any of those?

Could the same thing damage cell phones? Because I keep my cell next to me and my monitor and my subwulfer is right below, under my desk... about 2 feet away. Because lately i've had problems with my cell phones... reasons unknown.

Thats because the HDD holds information magnetically, and yeah it shouldn't perminently damage it

yeh ur phones sim can get wiped i think, well raped by the magnet, my mate put a massive speaker enxt to his pc and trashed his hdd, he had to format it to fix it

Subwoofers sound best on the floor with sattelites, same height appros as ur elbows ish:)

I put my woofer at the end of my desk and put my printer between my woofer and my monitor, no probs anymore!

No need to get too paranoid guys. Most speakers and subwoofers are magnetically shielded, so your fine.
