will we need Steam to play half life 2?

cos i just relised i can't play half life single player anymore unless i'm connected to the net which sucks cos what if my isp is down and i wanna play single player?

this is getting worse and worse.

Yep, HL2 is apparently the same. It does kind of suck... Its to early to make this move I think. In about 1-2 years perhaps the time is right.

If you buy HL2 from a store you only need Steam to play Multiplayer, but if you buy it with Steam you will need it to play Singleplayer also (at least i think so, but im sure about buying it from the store).

Multiplayer details have not been released.

Apparently you can play single player without interner connection but once you do hook it up to the net to gegt updates etc you will then need an internet connection to play single player. I reckon that may change in the future though because there will be mass outrage if the steam servers go down on release day and noone can play hl2.

As for needing steeam to play hl2 it's gonna come built into the backend of hl2 wether you like it or not.

They'll intro offline modes shortly after HL2 release, maybe earlier, because they recognized the screw up they did. Just get some patience.

ok well finally steam is kidna working i got into opposing force but it stalls and hangs every 15-30 sec?

i can only assume it's downloading as i play i really duno what the fu*k is going on here with valve?

what r they doin why can't the game jsut run off the hard drive?

I'll download a non steam warez version before I have to be connected to the net to play a game for SP.

that sucks, it just plain sucks.
(Note to mods/admins, I hate warez, but if valve screws over 90% of its fans by making us 56Kers that be connected, I'll screw them over)
