I think i'l buy retail cuz the box looks gd and i like instruction manuals :p good toilet reading lol

ACES!!

Another steam or retail thread.

The retail for sure.

Simply because i wont believe Half Life 2 is out untill i can walk into a store and punch the box in the ****ing face.

Ill pre-load over steam, then buy it retail and enter my CD key so i dont have to wait for it to install :D

thats not possible...if you want to preload it, you will have to buy it over steam...

But then youll still have to wait for the levels to download for each part of the game you progress through.

well i read on the second of the general questions from valve that the retail should be more popular in UK (where i am) and US im guessing cuz the retail market is stronger, but some countries have better broadband connections (nothing to do with speed i mean MORE connections) than retail connections and so that's why they do a steam purchase! ta daaa

I'll get it over Steam first (have it the first day it is out), then I'll get the retail version later on when the price goes down a little.

why do we have to have this same poll every 3 days?:(

for the 76th time - retail.

Retail - simply because I often load up old games many years later to play through them again, and there's no telling what the future of steam holds.

how: steam
why: faster, easier... all i really care about is the game

It will probably be like CZ so after its released you click the "I already have it" button and it asks for a key.

STEAM

Because, I will get to play it At MIDNIGHT!
And not damn store clerks telleing me they "dont carry that item here"
I can enjoy it from the comfort of my own home at the strke of MidNight!
how cool is that? (im not sleeping that night. thats for sure)

probably Steam, because I am living in Japan at the moment and more often than not games just don't make it out here on the same day. I won't be able to just wait calmly for the box. Though I may buy the retail box later just so I can see how well the G-man's lips match the Japanese voice over.

I'm buying retail. It just feels like I've actually gotten what I paid for. Plus I like to have a physical copy of the game on a professional quality disc in case I ever have to reinstall it.

Not to mention the huge amount of time it will take to download the game, even on broadband.

^^^ Yep. I love the concept of steam in reguards to patching, but as to actual full games ill steer well clear of it.

Retail. I have it pre-ordered with 1 day shipping and I get a free t-shirt! :)

I'm gonna buy the actual game from a store. I don't know but it just feels better when you actually have the game in your hands, and the box in your bookshelf. And I couldn't stand the painfully slow download, counting seconds and yelling every minute to announce that another minute has gone.

Retail for the cool box, instruction manual and mini-poster (ya never know). I too want to see HL2 in stores the first day, a tear will fall from my face.

Because it's fun! weee! retail! no wait... steam... I mean retail yeah retail! :D

There is something about boxes that makes me cream my pants. :)

Steam, cus I have a Radeon 9600XT, so I have the free download. I don't absolutely need the box and all. [even if i wanted it, I wouldn't wait 4 weeks for delivery, lol]

STEAM... i'd get the boxed retail... but i have one of those ATi coupons, and it's free

I already registerd hl2 to my account w/the ati offer. But im gonna get the retail to just to get the pretty box and manuals and give my bro the key :D

If I can't get it at a store once it's available on Steam, I won't hesitate to buy from Steam. I can always make my own CD's... and people actually read manuals? ;)

Steam because of the coupon. But I will miss those Gabe Newell trading cards.

I have a coupon from my ATI card that gives me the game for free, so I will get it from that. I also have a copy reserved at my local Gamestop, and my Dad might get it on his PC through Steam, so basicaly im going to get the game at every angle! lol

Retail. I want a box. And I couldn't stand to wait while the thing downloads. Not to mention that I don't trust Steam 100%. (Sorry valve, I know you are trying very hard with steam). There something more satisfying about having a game in your hands. Opening a box is more satisfying.

Personally, I like having a pretty box with a manual and stuff.

It preloads automaticly, and you enter the cd key to play..
