I've read the review of HL1 back then before I played it and they actually spoilt couple of surprises. So this time I'll definitely won't read any review only after I've beat it maybe.. :bounce:

No, i've got it pre-ordered since last july :D

For me this is a "must own" game even if it sucks, just because it's Half-Life 2.

I'll look at the scores, but thats about it.
I'll still get it.
Everyone says how shit DX2 is but I enjoyed it, so I guess I'm easy to please.

Well, i got into HL by a review, but i won't WAIT for a review before i buy the game, anyways i'll already read enough previews, plus i played the beta (damn, i wish i hadn't!), so i don't really care about reviews spoilers,,,

DX2 was a great game, people whine too much.

I will read the reviews, but it won't affect my decision. They're all bogus IMO. They rated the Getaway for PS2 a 6.9, which is insane, that's one of the best games I've ever played. To top it off they gave it the same graphics score as VC, which is just wrong.

At the same time games like Serious Sam get critical acclaim while I think it pretty much sucks. I guess I just have different tastes than all the reviewers.

pssh, most people didn't understand your question jimbones :(

No, I won't read the reviews until I beat it. I'll just take a quick check at the scores, and maybe the final judgment, that shouldn't give anything away

honestly, I'm not nearly anticipating the game as much as I'm anticipating the SDK

That's what I'll being doing.

i only want information from the developers ... not reviews

Nope, I'll wait with reading the reviews until I've finished it:)

same, but i dont know if they still got my order, been a while. :)

Eh, I'll read PC Gamer and IGN reviews when they are available.

I will sure read Gamespot's review if they have one before the game is out of course.

I made a thread about this very subject a while back. I myself will not be reading the reviews. It'll have that much more mystery about it when I finally play it. I hate seeing screenshot spoilers!!

ill just look at the scores (or at least try), but if you don't want any spoilers, why are you in this forum?

yeah since i subscribe to pcgamer guess i wont be able to get out of that one since i read every issue front to back and ill be too tempted to read the review, at that time i hope to have atleast installed hl2

Probably won't read any reviews until after I've finished it. If I read any reviews at all, that is. In the end, it wouldn't matter what other people say about it anyway, I will still buy it.

I've already been overloaded with too many images and movies and don't want to spoil any more about it. And I certainly dont want to hear about flaws and problems before I start playing, because then I'll be looking for them rather than just enjoying the game.

i don't know, depends on when i'll buy the game. if later than expected i'll probably read a review or two, but if i get it before or about the same time the review comes out, then i probably won't have much contact with the outside world b/c of obvious reasons

Reviews are a double edged sword, I think that generally the PC mags here in the UK are pretty good at avoiding spoilers, whilst still passing on the relevant facts that you want to know. It's a pity film reviewers don't subscribe to the same approach at times.

I think I'd probably check out the scores but try and avoid details / spoilers / too many pictures. Most of the UK mags are fairly sensible but still .....

Also rest assured we'll have a spoiler forum in place by then and any spoilers posted wrongly will be harshly dealt with :borg:

same here.. don't want to spoil anything :)

I'm in no hurry to get the game so I guess I will end up reading the reviews first just to see what other people think about it.

I'll look at the gamerankings scores, but i will try to avoid reviews.

The reviews are what caught my eye to pre order it and the need for a free T-Shirt with HL2 on it sounded pretty cool better then a pinky deamon but Im getting that as well ( Doom3 ). This is the one I am really looking forward to I never played the first HL1 and had a friend who was constantly playing CS so Im looking forward to this.

Im with alot of you guys though as far as spoilers to the actual game story and that I hate that right now I"ll read or look at any pics that have to do with HL2 but when the game comes out I'll spend a few days playing it and unless I get stuck on a mission I will not come to the forum till after I have completed the game.

Ya well I may have to come to the forum just to scream it rocks lol :E

dark angel, you can pick up Half Life at your local game store for $10 if not less. I would recommened playing it before HL2...you'll get a better experience out of it

I'm just curious, why are you all going to read the reviews when you've already finished the game? Whats the point?

To write furiously disagreeing flame-packed letters to the editor of course for underrating this fine game. (hope so) =)

I'll read the reviews. I need to know what kind of system will be capable of running this game and what components will give me the best experience. Also, on the off-chance that the game turns out to be flawed or incredibly short or requires me to install Steam and will my first child to Gabe...

My friend who plays CS all the time is giving me his stuff when HL2 comes out so, you could call me a grinch when it comes to money. The game is $20 at my local EB games store and 30 for the deluxe with all the HL1 's in one box I did check the stuff out.

I thought about the experience part also but things like the headcrabs are going to be tuffer in HL2 then the first one and I will get used to playing like on easy when it will be harder and really want to enjoy the second without being biast of the first.

Hope I spelled Biast right ?

Biest
Biaste ect ... Blah hope you can figure it out lol.

The reviews are important for ppl who do get this game they should play and try to give good info.

Just like when C&C Generals came out on the market I was unsure my PC could handle it so I did like alot ppl and waited to find out just what type of sys specs it was truely going to need to run. After the reviews and following up on how it played online was my biggest issue cuz I was not going to spend a dime on something that ya I could play at its basic min spec's with everything turned down ( all features ) but get online and get lagged out every game !

So yes reviews to an extent are very important to ppl along with just having others to share the experence with :)

Well.. I really don't want to know if it sucks or not before I've played it.
You know, if it happens to suck(little chance, but ya know), and I read the review it's going to hinder my enjoyment of the game even if I disagree with the review.

As far as system specs go, my machines all new and pretty tight so..
Of course the question is will I be able to constrain myself if a review should pop out before I get my hands on the game? I SERIOUSLY doubt it. Heh.

By the time reviews come out, I will be playing HL2 nonstop so I'll be too busy playing to read any. After I beat the game I will read them.

not a chance.....ill have it in my hands within a day of being released.
