Will you read through the manual before playing Half-Life 2?

I will most likely read it on the shitter after hours of play.

I'll read it, while HL2 is filling my harddrive.
And bet, dudes, it will take a loooong time! *If I don't preload it ;) *

I will probably just browse while I wait HL2 to install. I don't think there will be much any new 'technological' info about the game that we do not know.

If there is something like "Eli's Diary", it could be interesting.

Yeah, I'll give it a quick go-through during the install.

Likewise, I'll probably browse through it while the game installs.

Only saying "yes" as i'll be reading it (whilst trying to contain my excitement) on my way home from buying it! But when I get home to my PC....hell no!! I'm playing the damn thing.

Depends on how bad i have to go to the bathroom after i buy it. If its bad, then it will be my reading material lol. Other than that i will just skim it during install and then read it some other time.

I'll definitely read the manual because downloading like 5GBs will take a long time with thousands other people doing it at the same time on steam.

This let me think, what is with the manual, if I download it with steam?
Will there a PDF or what?

*a second too late*

Yep always do it during the installation - take a deep breath, then double-click HL2.exe :D

ahhhhhhhh what bliss....

I'll be reading it in the car when I'm coming home from the store and during the install, but I'll skip over the parts about how to play, etc. I'll just look at the background information, the characters, the enemies, and guns. I'll look at the special edition stuff too since I'm buying that.

But as soon as that screen that says "Installation Complete" pops up, I'm gonna play. And I'm gonna play until I drop.

ahhhhhhhh what bliss....

until....."hl2.exe has formed an illegal operation and will be shut down".
I know that's going to happen.....and i'll be made to wait an agonising 3 minutes for my computer to restart.

I'm at work all day during the week, so I'll probably pick up the game at lunch the day it's released, and I'll read the manual to tide myself over until I can get home and install it. :)

most importantly i will open the manual and put my face in it and breath in deeply. am i the only one that likes to sniff brand new game manuals? :)

Actually, since you mentioned it, it is a good smell. Game manuals and CD liner notes too.

Like I do with majority of the games I buy, I read the manual while the game is installing.

I do that too. It smells good :naughty:

Yeah, freshly printed paper does have a certain attractive aroma to it

Anyhow, I'll read the manual during the install, more than likely skim.. look at any screens/art, read any bit of story in the book
Don't really need to go over the gameplay basics or anything

And I thought the thread about "the birds" was as low as it would get...

But anyway I'll probably tear it up while shouting "Faster Faster Faster, Come on you piece of shit" while breathing very heavily and grinding my teeth.

I would love to sit there and eat a large order of McDonalds food in honor of Gabe Newell's work while the game installs:eek:

Immature "Gabe is fat" jokes aren't appreciated here.. even if insinuated

Yep, I'll probably read it front to back, basic gameplay instructions and all. It's the very first thing I do with any newly purchased game. It's always interesting to see how much time is put into a manual. I like what Valve (or whoever does the manuals) did with the previous manual. They didn't include too much information about the weapons or enemies so it wouldn't be spoiled for you.

Well, games today usually show various images/concepts during the install, so no manual reading then.

Unless they are old screens.

Anyway, that means I will be reading it in the car, (not driving at the same time), and it will be my reading material at night.

I'm all hyped up again. Picturing myself with the box in my hands... AHH :)

Reading is Good!

I will read it after playing HL2 for like 4hrs. The "insider" told me that the release date for the game will be out soon and the SDK is come out at the same time.

By the way dose anyone remember what the "White Broad" said in the "shandy" video about next week in June?
:borg:

actualy to tell you the truth the game is coming out 6/30 june 30 2004 check out the white board.....

I read the Half Life manual like last year or something...but for HL2 I'll make an exception

Yeah I'll read it. Probably before starting the installation. Just to tease myself (hey no funny ideas!) :) I bet my store will release the game @ midnight which will most likely mean NO busses... Which means it'll take around 30 - 60 minutes for me to get home. By then I'll be exhausted & won't survive playing for more than 15 minutes either way :S So I could just read the manual instead ;)

Like everyone else who has a brain, I will read it during the install.

UT 2004 took so long to install i got through the whole manual, and it wasnt a small one :S
