No, i dont want to waste my time looking for things like that.

You have seen it for you self. In almost every demo you play you see a exit screen talking about the games features, there you can find some nice examples. Help yourself.

Good heck people, so what if it was a hit at Valve, its called marketing. What do u want him to say "Valve is a cool company and ID sucks, please dont buy our game"?

What would we seriously do if HL2 sucks. I mean it looks pretty and stuff. But the actual feel might be crap and yucky and people just don't like it.

You reckon it might be crap. I hope not. :(
 
like magestic said, it's called marketing. Ut's what us mature people do when you are trying to sell a product.

To whoever said that there is no other games featuring physics: DX2 is also utilising the havoc engine.

Hey, let's not get personal. We here in the Half-Life 2 community need to listen to everyones opinions even if we don't agree with there opinions! How would it be a community if we dissed everybodys thoughts and opinions? Now, on the matter of this topic I would like to say it was probaly a bold marketing task. He probaly was referencing to HL2 and other big name titles, but he did not state that. So, we can not assume he was refering to HL2.

From what dream did you manage to get the idea that I think having a high post count makes people respect me? I was just stating my opinion.

Even with Id's (allegedly made up) attitude towards other developers I wouldn't think a statement like that with that poise and grammar would come straight from any developers mouth. Therefore I highly doubt the authenticity of both this and the original post.

If this was said, then I would highly have expected Id's fanbase to have been alienated.

I'll agree. Post count doesn't matter, its the posts themselves that matter. Honestly there some newbies here that need to realise that when someone voices an opinion it doesn't mean their trying to ram that opinion down everybodies throat and force them to accept it.

Whenever I voice an opinion all I want is for these people to accept that this what I believe and after that they are free to make their own judgement - I happily accept criticism if there are no insults involved.

Personally I would've thought that a lot of the people on this forum would be over the age of 12 and started to mature a little but alas I fear I may be wrong.

I dont see any arrogance in this statement at all.
All he says is that absolutely OKAY if theres other good games out there - it will simply not affect the quality of their own games.
Its a very sportsman-like statement.

Could also say it this way :
"Naturally other developers make cool games too, nevertheless were very confident in our own products."

Please, spend some more time reading the stuff...

Besides, all this "HL2 is teh bettar than Doom3" babbling is completely USELESS until both games are out and REAL opinions can be made.
 
ive always thought that id has been extremely arrogant.... sometimes to the point where its just makes them look really stupid

I'll admit, ID doesn't seem to consist of professionals.

Look at Epic, or Valve. When they talk, its usually of a college level diction, and while they might say "Our game is great!" they don't say "Our game is better then the other games out there"

I agree that the whole HL2 vs. Doom3 thing is pretty silly, since none of us have played either game and so we can't go around claimming which one is the superior product.

But...

If you don't see arrogance in his comments, then I suggest you look again because it is clearly there.

Look: They asked him "How do you think your game will do against Half-Life 2 and Halo 2?", to which he replied "We dont need other games to suck for ours to be good." What he is saying is "Half-Life 2 and Halo 2 will suck compared to Doom 3. But even if they didn't, Doom3 will still blow them away".

He is NOT saying "Oh, I'm glad Half-Life 2 and Halo 2 are awesome games, but Doom 3 is also good."

This type of comment would also coinside with the arrogant attitude iD has been alleged to have displayed in the past, as we've all read in this thread. So I don't see why anyone would try to twist this man's words, he said what he said with the same arrogance they have shown in the past.
