Just thought maybe some of you might be interested in customizing your windows xp operating system with new icons and a new entire theme. its a really awesome improvement to the way your operating system looks and feals.

Check out some of the themes you can get (all for free) and follow the steps (from the how to install tab) After installing a small file called
TGT Soft's Style XP it is really really easy to use and gives you controll over everything you can think of including sounds, even your logon ICON that apears in your start menu.

I personally use the Xbox XtremeXP (UPDATE 2) with the green replaced by see thru blue. But hteirs tons of other ones that might better apeal to you, you can download as many as you want install them and switch between them.

You have to download this http://www.tgtsoft.com/downloads/StyleXPInstallMale.zip
install it use it, and when you install your theme install (the folder of the theme) into this folder C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes and take this (Windows Visual Style File) and place it in their seperately so its on its own.

Heres a example of what your themes folder should look like depending on how many themes you have installed.

look at my beutiful design. I desided to see what XP would look like if it was white, so i used special design tools and drew a sophisticated theme. Plz send lots of positive feedback, as i feel i really did do it very well. Im very proud of it. I hope eveyone likes it. I would be so upset if they didnt.

Nice, basic icons kinda suck though...

I haven't seen any icon sets that I really like...so I just stick with the regulars for now.

My advice, try a few of the ones you think are ok... you might change your mind they look pretty sweet once you apply them and start messing with different ones.. you can allways change ones like mix em up if you want too.

Here's mine... I really like my WindowsBlinds theme... had it for a long time.

whoa that winamp icon is smokin, all in all pretty cool.

ARGG.. I was checking out some icon sets...didn't find anything that stuck out...so I change it back to default icons..and it deleted some icons.

Now any kind of movie or song doesn't have an icon or it's stuck with the icon from the set I had just checked out. I can't get it back to normal..

EDIT: I guess I'll just have to goto "File Types" and change 'em all back... bah

here's mine. got a simple theme off themexp.org, can't remember which one. has rounded minimise/maximise/exit buttons, a nice shade on all the menus and a general simplistic use..no fuss. it helps if you run at a higher res too...some of your desktops look way too cramped or something ;) some decent looking styles here though, i like a few of them.

Everyone needs to run out and get this Windows Blinds theme - tell me if anyone wants the link.

Zooma, can you possible send me that background? I love it.
