Professional gives you an XP emulator. That's about it.

Professional gives you a lot more than that, the question is if you will use those features.

Aside from being able to join a domain the main reason I always go with professional is it's ability to act as a remote desktop server. Having access to your computer from anywhere in the world right out of the box really kicks ass. The other big feature right of the top of my head is encrypted file system; haven't really read about the others.

So if you don't need to connect to your computer remotely, don't need to join a windows server domain, or don't need fast and secure encryption of the file system going with a home version should be good enough for you.
 
Has anyone who ordered a disk version via the student discount physically received their disks yet?
