Why are the icons on the taskbar a bit blocky?
How come Riva tuner keeps getting blocked?
Why do I constantly have to drag riva tuner temperature to the icon tray?
Why are the colors in 7 so bright?
and why is it hard to find a good resolution and internet explorer won't keep the size I put?

Sorry for all the questions it's just really annoying.

What do you mean by blocky? Is the resolution of the icons distorted? It would help if you posted a picture of your desktop and anything else that has a problem.

Windows Experience Index ran once fine. But then I upgraded my configuration so I wanted to run the test again to compare. Now it fails every time during the hard drive test. Obviously it's not a big deal, but .. I wonder what could cause that.

60GB partition Windows 7 64 bit. Never been updated (no internet yet)

The task bar in Win7 is sort of like the quick launch toolbar (shortcuts) and the old task bar (open programs) all in one.
The task bar shows icons that are either pinned programs and open programs all in a line. If the program is open you can right-click on it's icon and pin it. Then when it gets closed the icon will stay.

why do i get recovery errors every so often? Ive reformatted and keep getting it. Repair doesn't work. Usually restarting like 20 times somehow fixes it

Restart, at boot options select 'disable driver signature check'(or something like that, can't recall it anymore) and install it.

Bryann, did you try reformatting with XP or Vista? The Windows 7 you have could be faulty.

tip, you never set up your display and driver settings with windows 7.... Well, that's what it sounds like to me.

Create a .bat file in Notepad and enter the following:
taskkill /F /IM Explorer.exe
%ProgramFiles%\StarCraft\StarCraft.exe
start explorer.exe
exit
Make sure you replace the second line with your own Starcraft file path. Now use that .bat file as your shortcut, and as long as you're running the CD or have the no-CD Bnet patch, you should be fine.

Oh thanks. :D

I love you. In a completely non-homosexual way. :p

gotta have dat starcraft

Also, the grouped icon thing in Win 7 sucks, especially with messenger. Right click, properties, Taskbar buttons: Combine when full for a superior experience.

I've learnt to live with it, but occasionally my speakers will let crack for half a second (every half hour or so, or before something makes a sound). A friend of mine has the same problem (we both have different sound cards / speakers) and we've both tried various drivers to no avail.

Seems to be a windows 7 problem, and it happened from the second we both installed windows 7 fresh. A bit irritating, but I'm living with it...

Ok is anyone else having a problem in Explorer 8 in which when you click an image on google images, that it directs you right to the website instead?

Also any solution as to the resolution? I'm using a 22" and it recommends the highest which is 1600*1050 I believe.

I might be a taken man, but I'm all down for fabulous fanny affairs.

LoL.. Aye, Aye Captain, Whatever gets your freak on.

Probably coming from the sound card.
I remember when Audigy Platinum first came out, and I used to DJ with AtomixMP3, that clap, clap used come out every now and then, and with those 500w self-powered stage speakers, I could hear those clapping noise in my spinal. Nothing I did could fix it, it was hardware issue, because those cards hard hardware problem which none can hear on smaller speakers.

Yours may or may not be hardware issue, but you can see if an updated driver is available. If this started after installing Win7, then you need an updated driver.

Good Luck Glenn.

I ocassionally have this problem too, do you also have the volume of certain sounds not properly adjusting? In TF2 for example, sometimes nearby sounds are often too soft while distant sounds are too loud.

Sound card failure, even with 64 bit drivers for Win7, no drivers available for monitor controls, new software won't uninstall properly.

I've only been using it for half an hour, and these are the only three things I've tried to do so far. I do not like the new start menu at all - wish there was an option to make it 'classic' (for those of us who maintain clean start menus).

Please tell me there's light at the end of this tunnel

I'm currently using XP PRO on my new computer, and it runs startlingly fast. Really not used to things happening instantly.

But I just got my replacement wireless card today, which is compatible with Windows7 32/64Bit, So here goes...

The light comes when you dont use old as shit hardware and stop wanting it to be XP.

What piece of my hardware exactly is old as shit? I don't want it to be XP, I want it to be better, if not the same. With the old (classic) start menu, I can get to most programs in two keystrokes (including the Windows key), rarely used ones in three*. If this can be bested in Win 7, even better, but it should not get worse. I'm not saying it's not possible (although if anyone knows how, I'd love to hear it), but my first impression was sour.

*not using the customizable keyboard shortcuts, customizing the start menu itself appropriately.

Thats all I can find, hope it helps though.

Those do, thanks. Part of this is just getting used to the new interface. I've since found drivers that work for the hardware, and if anyone knows how to disable the search bar on the start menu, that's my next item.

Possibly.

Now my problem, how come google images will direct my right to the website when I click the image? This is more of an Internet Explorer problem.
I'm trying to disable the search menu from the start button in 7, but thanks (although that'll be handy for work to free up letters S and F). Google images takes me to the page with the Google frame in both IE and Opera. Is it the web page itself reloading/stealing focus?

When I click the image on google, it takes me directly to the website. There is no small image on the top left, just loads the web page.

I dunno - working for me. IE version 8.0.7600.16385. I haven't changed any options for this browser since install. ...grabbing at straws here: do you have frames disabled (where the link would therefore take you to the page and maybe leave the Google frame off)?
