I was wondering if it was possible to password protect folders in WinXP without aquiring any special software. Any help would be appreciated.

What you can do is from an administrator account set folder security to not include certain users. Then when you log into your account you have access while the other account does not.

Though I'm not sure if it will prompt for a username/password (account/password) when trying to access the folder from the other account.

For me I just hide a folder and hide it in some random windows folder. Change the extentsions on the name(so when there searched and try to be used it wont work).

Since no one at my house even knows what hiden folders are, how to get to the search feature, or how to navigate anything in C:\Windows(subfolders). It's all the protection I really need :).

You can get programs that will do this for you. I can't remember the name of them, but they do what you want. I will try and find the name of the program I have seen before.
