Windows start-up problem

I recently installed a new graphics card (evga geforce 275gtx), after that the problem came up.

When I turn on my computer it gets the windows loading screen and freezes. The 3 blue bars stop moving. I press the restart button and it proceeds to load fine.

So, now every time I want to turn on my computer I have to basically load it twice for it finally get to the desktop.

Try running a utility program that removes lingering parts of drivers after uninstalling them. First go into Safe Mode, uninstall the driver, run the tool and install the new driver.

If that's not it, try flashing your BIOS (could be that your motherboard and the new graphics card are not the best of friends with an old BIOS). Look on Google for specific instructions for your motherboard.

Take the battery out for a minute or two. That'll flash the bios. Though I don't think that will solve the problem.

No, removing your battery will only clear your CMOS (reset your BIOS settings) and also is not even the right way to do that. This and your BIOS have nothing to do with your video problems. Updating your BIOS only fixes BIOS related bugs and hardware incomparability with CPU and RAM. Please don't attempt to flash the BIOS. I know you'll end up using the @BIOS Windows utility (because you don't know any better) and end up bricking your motherboard.

But yes, use a utility to completely uninstall the old drivers and install proper ones for your new hardware.

Now clearing your CMOS has some merit, since some BIOS cache hardware information, but most likely isn't your problem. If you chose to do so (it wont harm anything, but just reset settings such as boot order), find your manual (yes, RTFM) and find which pins to short while your computer is unpluged. The instructions are pretty simple, I'm sure you could figure them out.

The only thing I can think of is maybe your RAM got nudged out of place when you were installing the gfx card.

It resets your BIOS settings to factory defaults. Most people don't need to do this anymore since it's easier to use the BIOS menu option, with maybe the exception of overclockers who need to undo unstable settings.
