evert since i reinstalled windows when i try to bring up the task manager (ctrl. + alt + delete) nothing happens... is their something i need to install or enable for this to work?

Uh... could be u have already gotton virus they can do that... Also one of the keys on the keyboard might be broken

I have no idea but just to re-assure you, I always used ctr, alt, delete, I never tried ctr,alt, esc

What windows do u have..
Not sure on older versions but on XP, u can right click on the taskbar and click task manager.

control+alt+Delete actually brings up the security window (password change, shutdown, and taskmanager options)
control+shift+esc brings you straight to the task manager
i think this is windows xp pro specific
